Moveset | ・
Boomburst
・ Overdrive ・ Sludge Bomb ・ Volt Switch |
Toxtricity is currently the strongest Boomburst user in the metagame as it can terastallize into a Normal-type to get STAB while its Punk Rock Ability boosts the move's damage by 30%, turning it into an effective 182 Base Power move.
Overdrive is its secondary STAB move that also gets a Punk Rock boost, becoming a 104 Base Power Electric move. Sludge Bomb is its other STAB move that hits Grass and Fairy-types for super effective damage. Its last move is Volt Switch and allows Toxtricity to pivot from the battle if it encounters a check.
Life Orb is the better held item than Throat Spray for this build since switching out causes Toxtricity to lose the Sp.Atk boost and offers more a more consistent damage boost.
Snarl | An alternative to Volt Switch that also gets a Punk Rock boost and lowers the target's Sp.Atk by one stage. |

The following calculations take into account Toxtricity's Offensive EV spread with a Modest Nature, as well as a the damage boost from Life Orb and Punk Rock.

Item: Leftovers | Boomburst 121-142 (33.4 - 39.2%) Guaranteed 3HKO |
Item: Black Sludge | Overdrive 242-288 (109 - 129.7%) Guaranteed OHKO |
Item: Leftovers | Sludge Bomb 120-143 (62.5 - 74.4%) Guaranteed 2HKO |

Moveset | ・
Boomburst
・ Overdrive ・ Snarl ・ Sludge Bomb |
This is similar to the Singles build with EVs adjusted to give it more bulk, with Throat Spray being the preferred iteam to boost Toxtricity's Special Attack once it uses a sound-based move.
Boomburst its strongest attack and gets 30% damage boost from Punk Rock and STAB once Toxtricity terastallizes into a Normal-type. Keep in mind that this move hits all Pokemon on the field including your partner so it's best to pair it with a Pokemon that can use Protect or Detect, or has the Telepathy or Soundproof Ability.
Overdrive is its secondary STAB move that hits both opposing Pokemon and also gets a Punk Rock boost. Snarl is mostly used for utility, lowering both opposing Pokemon's Special Attack by one stage and also gets the boost from its Ability.
Sludge Bomb is its last STAB move and is a strong Poison-type move that can hit Grass and Fairy-types for super effective damage.
Acid Spray | A weaker Poison-type STAB but lowers the target's Special Defense by two stages. |

The following calculations take into account Toxtricity's Offensive EV spread with a Modest Nature and Throat Spray boost, as well as a the damage boost from Punk Rock.
Damage Dealt by Toxtricity |
|
---|---|
Item: Black Sludge | Boomburst 144-171 (65.4 - 77.7%) Guaranteed 2HKO |
Item: Black Sludge | Overdrive 162-192 (79 - 93.6%) Guaranteed 2HKO |
Item: Assault Vest | Sludge Bomb 186-222 (89.8 - 107.2%) 37.5% Chance to OHKO |
Toxtricity's main niche is a powerful wallbreaker with STAB Boomburst once it terastallizes into a Normal-type. While it's very difficult to switch into, it also requires some team support since its mediocre Speed stat means it's easily outsped even with full Speed investment.
Toxtricity's dual STAB makes it a great choice for any team, but it's best used in more balanced team compositions in both Singles and Doubles with teammates that can cover its weaknesses.
Lead Support | Special Attacker | Physical Attacker |
---|---|---|
Corviknight | Toxtricity (Amped Form) | Roaring Moon |
Corviknight's main role is to set up Tailwind to boost Toxtricity's Speed stat, while also using Defog to remove the opposing team's entry hazards.
Once entry hazards are clear and Tailwind is setup, Toxtricity can switch in and terastallize to unleash powerful Boombursts and Overdrives.
Roaring Moon is this team's secondary attacker and also appreciates the additional Speed boost from Tailwind and can set up with Dragon Dance.
Lead Attacker | Lead Support |
---|---|
Toxtricity (Amped Form) | Oranguru |
Physical Attacker | Redirection Support |
Garchomp | Amoonguss |
Oranguru is a great partner for Toxtricity since its Telepathy Ability prevents it from getting damaged by Boomburst, while also using Instruct on Toxtricity so that it can use Boomburst twice.
Garchomp is this team's secondary attacker and can also benefit from Oranguru's Instruct and can freely use Earthquake without damaging its partner.
Amoonguss serves as this team's redirection support with Rage Powder and can use Protect to shield itself from Toxtricity's Boomburst.
Even with full Speed investment and a Timid Nature, Toxtricity's low speed stat means its easily outsped by many common attackers.
It also has very low defenses and even with full HP investment, it's easily taken out by setup sweepers that can take advantage of its weaknesses.
