Ting Lu's Dark and Ground typing allows it to hit 7 Types for Super Effective with its STAB moves. Ting-Lu's ability Vessel of Ruin lowers the Special Attack stat of all Pokemon on the field, reducing the damage raid bosses can inflict upon you.
Offensively, Ting-Lu can set up with Taunt to prevent the raid Pokemon from using status moves. Since Ting-Lu does not have moves that can boost its own Attack or lower the target's Defense, the goal is to Terastallize quickly to deal as much damage as possible.
Ting-Lu can deal damage with Throat Chop, which will also disable sound-based moves like Sing. Earthquake is also an effective alternative damage dealing move, for Tera Types that resist Throat Chop.
As it will play the role of physical attacker, an Adamant Nature would benefit Ting-Lu. You can also let it hold a Shell Bell to help it recover some HP when using attacking moves.

Leftovers |
The only ability Ting-Lu has is Vessel of Ruin which lowers the Special Attack of all Pokemon in the field.
We also recommend getting a Ting-Lu with a Fighting Tera Type to boost its Body Press. If the Tera Boss is a Ghost, Flying, Psychic, Fairy or Bug Tera Type, bring a different counter instead.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards a bulky physical attacker to help with survivability while also dealing as much damage as possible. Max out your Defense and HP EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Give it Leftovers so it can recover health in between turns. As a Defensive Attacker, a Bold nature would be best.
Ting-Lu Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1 | Use Taunt to disable the raid Pokemon's status moves. |
Turns 2~4 | Use Hang Tough! to boost you and your allies' Defense and Special Defense |
Turn 5 | Use Taunt to disable the raid Pokemon's status moves. |
Turns 6~8 | Use Body Press to deal boosted damage |
Turns 9+ | Terastallize and use Body Press. Re-apply Taunt when needed |
Access to Taunt allows it to disable status moves, while the Hang Tough! cheer boosts you and your team's defenses. Body Press is its main offensive move which uses its boosted Defense stat to calculate damage instead of its Attack stat. Snarl and Sleep Talk are filler moves which serve the purpose of lowering the Raid Boss' Special Attack, and countering the Sleep Status Condition respectively.

Leftovers |
The only ability Ting-Lu has is Vessel of Ruin which lowers the Special Attack of all Pokemon in the field. This ability is great against Tera Raid Pokemon that are Special Attackers but if you have teammates who are using Pokemon that are also Special Attackers, it's best not to bring Ting-Lu.
We also recommend getting a Ting-Lu with a Ground Tera Type because of its great defensive and offensive capabilities, as well as the boost it gives to its Ground-type STAB. As a Physical Attacker, an Adamant nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards a bulky physical attacker to help with survivability while also dealing as much damage as possible. Max out your Attack and HP EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Give it Leftovers so it can recover health in between turns.
Start out a Tera Raid Battle by hitting the opponent with a Super-Effective move. Terrastalize when you can and use Earthquake to deal massive blows to your opponent.

Start your hunt for Ting-Lu by finding all of its 8 Stakes scattered in the northwestern area of the Paldea region. Once you've found all of the stakes, head to the forest north of Casseroya Lake to find the legendary Pokemon's shrine.
Before attempting to catch it, make sure that you turn off your Autosave first. This is so you can restart the battle all over again if it ends up with a Dark Tera Type.
Make sure to bring a Pokemon that has False Swipe and can inflict a status effect to make it easier to catch.
Don't worry if you've already caught a Dark Tera Type Ting-Lu because you can still change its Tera Type to Ground at the Treasure Eatery in Medali.
Once you've defeated Larry, collect 50 Ground Tera Shards then talk to the woman behind the counter at the Treasure Eatery to change Ting-Lu's Tera Type to Ground.
If it has a different nature, you can use an Adamant Mint to change its nature to Adamant.
The easiest way to get this is by buying it from the Chansey Supply shop at Mesagoza for ₽20,000.
