Best Special Attacker for any Tera Raid thanks to the new Stellar Tera type. Increase Sp. Atk and Sp. Def thanks to Calm Mind! Acid Spray lets you build Tera Orb Charges while shredding Raid Boss' Sp. Def. Heal off any damage thanks to Recover. |
With the introduction of the Stellar Tera Type, Arceus has found itself to be the best Pokemon to use for any Tera Raid.
Arceus' ability Multitype allows it to change its type by holding elemental Plates, this lets it gain STAB, Super Effective damage, and the innate boost from being Stellar Tera type.
We also recommend getting an Arceus with a Stellar Tera Type because this will boost Arceus' moves when it Terastallizes. As a Special Attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Stellar Tera Type Match-Ups Explained
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards Bulky Offense. Max out your HP and Sp. Atk EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Def. Give it an Elemental Plate to change its type accordingly.
Type | Optimized Setup Move |

Snowscape | |
Psychic Terrain | |

Any Other Type | Calm Mind |
Co-Op Raids | Psych Up |
The setup move slot for Arceus can be changed depending on its type. The moves listed above are our recommended moves based on Arceus' type, which can either provide extra damage, or added utility for Arceus.
With the introduction of Relearning Moves, you only need to use TMs on Arceus once to relearn it again anytime.
Arceus Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1~3 | Use Acid Spray to drop the Raid Boss' Sp.Def by 6 stages while building Tera Charge. |
Low HP Turns | Use Recover when your HP drops below 50%. |
Optional | Set up with Calm Mind or your chosen buffing move. |
Turns 5+ | Terastallize and attack using Judgment as appropriate. Set up any buffs or debuffs as needed |
Start Tera Raid battles by using Acid Spray three times to lower the Raid Boss to -6 Sp.Def. Depending on the damage you sustained during your setup, you can use Recover to recover lost HP, allowing you to freely attack after. Terastallize and use Judgment to deal Tera-boosted, STAB, and Super-Effective damage.
Damage Dealt by Arceus |
|
---|---|
Judgment(Rain, Water Type, Splash Plate, Stellar Tera) 3,756 ~ 4,420 (43.6 ~ 51.3%) |
Due to its Stellar Typing, this Arceus Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to almost any Tera Raid Boss. If the Tera Raid Boss is known for its Special Bulk (like Blissey), perhaps consider a different Pokemon, as Arceus will be ineffective to these Types as a Stellar Type special attacker.

Arceus' ability Multitype allows it to change its type by holding elemental Plates. This allows Arceus to freely change types to counter Raid Pokemon, either offensively or defensively.
For a Specially Offensive Arceus build, Calm Mind, Judgment, Giga Drain, and Acid Spray are the main moves as a general attacker, but can be slightly modified to be more specialized in a particular type.
By default, Arceus has a Normal Tera type, but in order to maximize your damage output, match Arceus' Tera Type with its Plate type. As a Special Attacker, Modest nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize

Arceus Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1~3 | Use Calm Mind to boost Arceus' Special Attack and Special Defense. |
Optional | Use Giga Drain to restore at least 50% HP. |
Turns 4~6 | Use Judgment to deal damage and build Tera Orb charge. |
Turns 7+ | Terastallize and continue using Judgment. |
Start Tera Raid battles by using Calm Mind at least three times to boost your Special Attack and Special Defense. Depending on the damage you sustained during your setup, you can use Giga Drain to recover lost HP, allowing you to freely attack after.
Use Judgment to deal damage while also building Tera Orb charge. Once you have enough Tera Orb charge, Terastallize and continue using Judgment to deal Tera-boosted damage.
Depending on your fourth move, you can incorporate it into your strategy as well. Weather and Terrain moves are best used before you repeatedly use Judgment, while other damage dealing moves can be instead used to build Tera Orb charge, allowing you to conserve Judgment's PP.
