Bugs and Glitches are errors that affect gameplay and can range from simple animation errors, to save data problems. Easter Eggs and Hints can be found within the games, as well as external media such as Pokemon official Twitter and the Anime to provide spoilers/leaks for the DLC. Read on to find out all discovered bugs, glitches, easter eggs and hints in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!
List of Contents
Fixing bugs can range from simply restarting your console, to waiting for an official fix from Nintendo. Minor Bugs, for example can be fixed by restarting your Switch, or sometimes even by flying to a different area.
Major Bugs are not as simple, and are usually resolved after Nintendo releases a new version update.
Bugs and Errors: How to Fix Crashes and Features Not Working
A Bug discovered from the 5-Star Great Tusk and Iron Treads Raid Event where players where getting items labeled as None after clearing the raid, promptly causing the game to crash.
The problem might be being caused by the Raid Rewards trying to give players Pokemon Materials based on the Raid Pokemon, but since Paradox Pokemon do not drop any Materials, it causes a mismatch, causing a crash.
A Bug where the game reads your files as corrupted was discovered by players shortly after experiencing game crashes in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
The actual cause of the bug is unkown, but is likely due to memory leaks damaging some file assets after a crash.
Corrupted Data Bug: Causes and Fixes
A Save File Deleting Bug where your save data is deleted was discovered by players while connecting to Pokemon GO in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
There was a small oversight regarding the code and some players noticed their save data was gone after connecting to Pokemon GO and catching a few Vivillons. And for some players it was after purchasing the DLC which caused their save data to be gone.
Save File Not Recognized Bug: Causes and Fixes
There was a small oversight regarding the release of the Walking Wake and Iron Leaves Tera Raid, which caused some players to be able to find the raid in-game, even without downloading the new update. Due to the missing in-game elements, the raid will appear as a Bad Egg, to act as a placeholder for either Walking Wake or Iron Leaves.
Catching the Bad Egg in-game counts as catching Walking Wake or Iron Leaves on that save file, meaning you will be unable to catch it again when you join a different Walking Wake or Iron Leaves raid. This Bug has been fixed through the release of the 1.3.0 Patch Update!
Version 1.3.0 Bad Egg Bug Patch Update (April 19)| Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)
While in Tera Raid Battles, HP bars may glitch and show no change despite hitting Pokemon with powerful moves. This has been acknowledged by the Japanese official support website to occur with Play Rough and other moves. You'll have to keep track of the Tera Pokemon's HP by checking it's status or by checking the other HP bar when attacking!
Many players have complained about issues in joining online Tera Raids. One such issue is when players receive a message that says You cannot join this raid due to a problem with the Pokemon in your party.
It's unclear what this actually means, as many who experience this bug have been able to use their Pokemon before. It's likely a communication error and you can simply try to reconnect again! You may be lucky enough to join in the raid!
While opening your map to check your next destination is a pretty regular thing, icons remaining on your screen afterwards is not. Some players have reported having icons hover on their screen until they restarted the game.

Many players have shared their issues with how the game runs on the Switch, especially when watching NPCs and background elements stutter painfully. Things and people at even minor distances begin to suffer Frame Rate Issues quite quickly, but will smoothen out the closer players get to it.
It's become a rather common bug to jump onto rocks or ledges and get stuck in the falling animation. If you're lucky, you can wiggle your way out of it.
Otherwise, other players have reported clipping through the floor completely.
Players may also notice that catching Pokemon seems to take a lot out of the game. From floating Pokemon, phasing into Pokemon or clipping into the floor, these are just some of the bugs you might experience when trying to capture a Pokemon or interact with them.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has a rather small render distance which causes items, people, and Pokemon to pop in often. In cities it can be surprising, but in the wild it can be as bit of a nuisance for Pokemon to appear so suddenly.
Some players have experienced glitches with their characters, and others have caught glitches of NPC models glitching such as the video above, where the trainer turns into a floating Pokeball!
You may also notice your Pokemon appearing with the wrong or even glitched out textures! This can be fixed by sending your Pokemon back into the Pokeball a few times.
Sometimes Pokemon or people may be caught in a glitched animation. Normally, interacting with them should fix it, but in the worst case you may need to restart your Switch.

Compared to bugs, Glitches and Exploits can sometimes have their benefits, and some are relatively easy to do, while some require specific preparation and steps.
List of Glitches and Exploits: How to Do and Benefits
Catch a Female Indeedee with the move Trick Room from 5-Star Tera Raids!
Trick Room Female Indeedee Glitch
For players that have unlocked Dash and Glide Ride abilities, there's a glitch that allows you to glide at super fast speeds!
High Speed Glide Glitch
Players can steal items from wild Pokemon infinitely using item-stealing moves like Thief!
Farm Unlimited Held Items from Wild Pokemon Exploit
For players with access to Area Zero in Pokemon Scarlet, there's a glitch that allows you to greatly increase your chances of finding multiple Shiny Flutter Mane!
NOTE: This glitch has been fixed as of Version 1.1.0 on December 1, 2022. If you want to take advantage of this exploit, avoid updating your game until you've finished duping any items you need! |
A glitch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet allows you to duplicate both the legendary Pokemon Koraidon or Miraidon, as well an item of your choice.
If you've already finished the game and have access to either Koraidon or Miraidon's battle form, you can potentially have a huge amount of Master Balls, Big Nuggets, Rare Candies, etc.
If you want to somehow increase your movement speed on foot, then you might want to try connecting a second controller to your Nintendo Switch. Using two controllers increases his/her running speed.
In the early game, it's frustrating to find yourself unable to scale mountains or climb up ledges! Using the Backwards Jump Glitch is one sure way to bypass all of that!
This teleport exploit allows you to reach areas that are usually not accessible in the early game, such as the small islands surrounded by the water in South Province (Area Five). You can also use it to teleport out of bounds though it may take a few tries to achieve it.
Farm Items from the Asado Desert by setting up a Picnic on top of a Hidden Item!
The Pokemon Company is not new in putting a little lore and references in its games. Small things are bound to be found by fans and these little details make the world of Pokemon feel more alive!
Older fans of the Pokemon games are in for a treat when they find little nods to older games in the series. For example, did you know Alfornada has mosaic tiles that reference Pokemon Red and Blue's Pokemon menu icons?
Older Pokemon games have released little details that actually show what future titles contain. Like the Gigantamax Toxtricity in Pokemon Sun and Moon, and the Backpacker that gives you a Strange Souvenir from Alola in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
List of All Easter Eggs, Hints, and Clues
A baby turtle Pokemon made an appearance in Pokemon Horizons. This Pokemon is suggested to perhaps be a pre-evolution of Terapagos. When Liko was in danger, it emerged from her Pendant and made a hexagonal shield reminiscent of Tera Energy to protect her.
Terapagos Type and Info
Roy's ancient Pokeball and Liko's pendant are ancient artifacts that have some connection to Terapagos and possibly the Terastal phenomenon. They resonate with each other when nearby or in danger. Roy's Pokeball has connections to an Ancient Explorer and Shiny Rayquaza. Liko's Pendant has connections to the baby Terapagos and perhaps the Terastal Phenomenon.
Liko's Pendant and Roy's Pokeball: Hints for the DLC
A Shiny Hatless Tera Rayquaza was summoned by Roy's ancient Pokeball and Liko's pendant. This shiny Rayquaza appears to be integral to the plot, as Roy wants to capture it to take his grandfather on a ride on its back. It appeared to have Tera Energy, but with no hat. Perhaps this could indicate new Tera Forms for legendaries akin to the Gigantamax forms of select Pokemon in Sword and Shield!
