Great natural bulk and high Speed. Can boost its special offense and special bulk with Calm Mind. Reliable recovery using Parabolic Charge. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Hadron Engine | Leftovers |
Hadron Engine is Miraidon's only Ability and sets up Electric Terrain when it's switched into battle which lats for five turns. This Ability boosts Miraidon's Special Attack by 33% on top of the 30% boost to Electric-type attacks from Electric Terrain.
Leftovers gives Miraidon passive recovery at the end of every turn, which synergizes well with Parabolic Charge.
Parabolic Charge | Dazzling Gleam |
Calm Mind | Substitute |
Parabolic Charge is MIraidon's strongest STAB move for this build and gets a 30% damage increase under Electric Terrain. This move also restores its HP equal to half of the damage it deals.
Dazzling Gleam becomes a powerful Fairy-type STAB move once it terastallizes into a Fairy-type.
Calm Mind increases Miraidon's Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage, allowing Miraidon to boost its special offense while also boosting its special bulk. Substitute is a great utility move that protects it from status and is a great move to use when facing defensive Pokemon.

It also gives it newfound resistances to Fighting, Bug, and Dark, while giving it immunity to Dragon-type moves.
Best Fairy Type Pokemon for Ranked Battle
We're using a modified defensive EV spread with 140 HP and 108 Def EVs, with 4 EVs invested in Sp.Atk and Sp.Def. Full 252 EV investment in Speed ensures that it can still outspeed attackers and slow defensive Pokemon.
Volt Switch | Can replace Substitute and gives Miraidon a way to pivot from the battle. |

Access to high BP moves like Electro Drift and Draco Meteor. Assault Vest boosts its already high Special Defense. Tera Fairy gives it greater coverage and immunity to Dragon-type moves. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Hadron Engine | Assault Vest |
Hadron Engine is Miraidon's only Ability and sets up Electric Terrain when it's switched into battle which lats for five turns. This Ability boosts Miraidon's Special Attack by 33% on top of the 30% boost to Electric-type attacks from Electric Terrain.
Assault Vest boosts Miraidon's Special Defense by 50% but prevents it from using status moves.
Electro Drift | Draco Meteor |
Dazzling Gleam | Volt Switch |
Electro Drift is Miraidon's strongest STAB move and gets a 33% increase in damage if it deals a super effective hit on the target, making it its strongest move against Water and Flying-type Pokemon. This stacks with the 30% boost in damage from Electric Terrain.
Draco Meteor is a strong 130 Base Power Dragon-type move that gives Miraidon great neutral coverage, but lowers its Special Attack by two stages.
Dazzling Gleam is another strong neutral coverage move that gets STAB once Miraidon terastallizes into a Fairy-type, while Volt Switch allows Miraidon to pivot from the battle against a Pokemon that resists its moves.

Volt Switch | Another retreating option over U-Turn but can be stopped by Ground-types. |
In the recently concluded Paldea Prologue Online Competition, all 400 Paldea Pokedex Pokemon are legal, including Koraidon and Miraidon. This was the best team for using Miraidon in this competition.
This build may be relevant again in future regulations.
Best Teams for Paldea Prologue
Miraidon can trigger Iron Hands' Quark Drive and give it an Attack boost. This will make it incredibly difficult to wall. Iron Bundle also benefits from Miraidon setting up Electric Terrain with Hadron Engine as it can get a Speed boost and be the fastest Pokemon on the field. Iron Bundle with a Speed boost and Choice Specs-boosted Ice-type attacks will also be difficult to stop.
Miraidon's Hadron Engine can also remove Psychic Terrain upon switch-in (Indeedee-F will always be slower than Miraidon), and can enable Dragonite's Extreme Speed.
Amoonguss and Arcanine round out the team as an effective support duo.

Moveset | ・
Electro Drift
・ Draco Meteor ・ Dazzling Gleam ・ Protect |
Electro Drift is a powerful STAB move that deals even more damage on super-effective hits. It is Miraidon's best Electric STAB move.
Its best Dragon-type STAB move is Draco Meteor, which can take out most foes that are not Fairy-types.
Dazzling Gleam gives Miraidon a reliable spread move, while Protect is good for scouting and stalling out turns of Trick Room.
Miraidon is a strong option in Regulation G, where it will be legal.
Flash Cannon | Flash Cannon gives Miraidon an option to use against Steel-weak Pokemon |
---|---|
Taunt | Non-Prankster Taunt is very useful for stopping set up strategies like Trick Room. |
Miraidon's offensive power can be difficult for opponents to wall especially if their teams do not have Ground-types. Use Miraidon to deal massive damage and sweep through teams.
Miraidon is best suited in teams that can take out Ground-types with minimal effort. Speed Control is also good for Miraidon, as it always wants to be attacking first.
Miraidon naturally synergizes with Paradox Pokemon with Quark Drive, giving them boosts to their stats. Setting up Electric Terrain is also a plus, since it can overwrite Indeedee-F's Psychic Terrain upon switching and allow its teammates to use Priority Moves.
Paradox Pokemon Builds for Competitive Battles and Tera Raids
Special Attacker | Support |
---|---|
Miraidon | Iron Bundle |
Physical Attacker | Support / Physical Attacker |
Dragonite | Chien-Pao |
In Regulation G, Miraidon can trigger Iron Bundle's Quark Drive by setting up Electric Terrain. Iron Bundle can then lower the opposing team's Speed with Icy Wind.
Having a means to control Terrain is also valuable, as it can help Dragonite use Extreme Speed by countering opposing Psychic Terrain.
Chien-Pao can help Dragonite deal even more damage with its Sword of Ruin Ability.
Partners like Clefairy can keep Miraidon healthy, while boosting the power of Choice Specs Tera Electric STAB Electro Drift with Helping Hand.
Special Attacker | Physical Attacker | Special Attacker |
---|---|---|
Miraidon | Iron Valiant | Gholdengo |
Miraidon setting up Electric Terrain for teammates with Quark Drive is very useful for Pokemon like Iron Valiant who can benefit off an Attack boost. Iron Valiant also has access to Leaf Blade, which it can use against Ground-types who other Pokemon in the team might have difficulty damaging.
Gholdengo is great in this team composition, as it can cover Miraidon and Iron Valiant who are both weak to Fairy.
While Ground-types won't wall every other move in Miraidon's moveset, they will gladly take an Electric-type Move. Strategic switches will help you beat opposing Miraidon.
Speed Control can help you attack before Miraidon. Moves like Tailwind, Scary Face, or Trick Room can help turn the matchup in your favor.
