Moveset | ・
Mach Punch
・ Bullet Seed ・ Rock Tomb ・ Spore |
This is Breloom's standard build, with Technician boosting the power of its two main STAB moves Mach Punch and Bullet Seed. The latter is particularly useful as it allows Breloom to take on Pokemon with the Ability Sturdy, Substitute users, and Focus Sash.
We're using Fighting Tera Type for this build not only to power up Breloom's Mach Punch, but also remove its weakness to Ice Shard, allowing it to effectively take on Chien-Pao and Baxcalibur.
It's last two moves are for coverage and utility; Rock Tomb is also boosted by Technician and allows Breloom to hit Fire and Flying-types, while Spore lets it put to sleep slower attackers and defensive Pokemon.
Force Palm | A good alternative to Rock Tomb for another stronger Fighting-type STAB, but Breloom loses coverage against Fire and Flying-types. |

Swords Dance | Can replace Spore if you want to go full offense. |

Held Item | Toxic Orb |
Moveset | ・
Focus Punch
・ Leech Seed ・ Substitute ・ Spore |
This is a bulkier build focusing on Breloom's Poison Heal Ability, which is automatically activated by its Toxic Orb item. Fighting Tera type is the better choice for this build to remove Breloom's weakness to Ice Shard.
Focus Punch is its main STAB move and is only used when it has a Substitute active to prevent it from getting interrupted and flinched. Leech Seed gives it a tool to use against defensive Pokemon, while Spore allows it to set up Substitute safely against a slower opponent or one switching out.
Bulk Up | A good alternative to Leech Seed that lets Breloom further boost the power of its Focus Punch. |
---|---|
Rock Slide | A good alternative to Leech Seed that gives Breloom great neutral coverage. |
Breloom's sheer power comes from its Technician Ability, which powers up its normally weak moves into hard-hitting attacks. Bullet Seed in particular is very strong, managing to reach a 187.5 base power if it manages to hit five times!
Breloom also boasts a large movepool, with Spore being the most noteworthy. It also learns Leech Seed which, when in conjunction with Spore, allows Breloom to beat defensive Pokemon who can otherwise wall it.
Breloom's access to Spore and Technician-boosted attacks make it a popular choice in hyper offense teams, especially those that struggle against defensive Pokemon employing stall tactics.
Lead Attacker | Offensive Pivot | Special Attacker |
---|---|---|
Breloom | Gyarados | Iron Moth |
Breloom's ability to inflict Spore makes it dififcult for opposing teams to switch out against it, making it a great lead for offensive teams. Gyarados serves as this team's pivot, taking care of Fire-types that Breloom struggles against.
Iron Moth rounds off this team's coverage by serving as a strong check against Fairy-types which Breloom struggles against such as Flutter Mane.
Breloom struggles against faster Ghost-types as they are immune to Breloom's Mach Punch and can often cripple or outright KO it before it can attack with Bullet Seed or its coverage moves.
Pokemon | Description |
---|---|
Flutter Mane | Ranking: ★★★★★
・Faster and immune to Mach Punch. ・Easily KO's Breloom with STAB Moonblast. ▶️Flutter Mane Best Movesets |
Gengar | Ranking: ★★★★
・Immune to Mach Punch, resists Bullet Seed, and can retaliate with Sludge Bomb. ・Can cripple Breloom with Will-O-Wisp and has a chance to disable its Bullet Seed with its Cursed Body Ability. |
Skeledirge | Ranking: ★★★★
・Unaware ignores Breloom's stat boosts, and is resistant to Bullet Seed. ・Torch Song bypasses Substitute. ▶️Skeledirge Best Movesets |
Annihilape | Ranking: ★★★
・Vital Spirit variants are immune to Breloom's Spore. ・Choice Scarf variants can outspeed Breloom and threaten with Fire Punch. |
