Increase the damage dealt by Flash Cannon thanks to Metal Sound and Nasty Plot. Shrug off damage from Iron Bundle's devastating moves thanks to Light Screen. Immunity to Status moves thanks to Good as Gold. |
The best ability for Gholdengo in Tera Raid Battles is Good as Gold. While it doesn't matter for this build, it makes Gholdengo immune to all moves that directly inflict status effects or reduce stats.
Gholdengo also gets access to Metal Sound and Nasty Plot, an amazing debuffing combo that will allow Gholdengo to consistently deal damage.
We also recommend getting a Gholdengo with a Steel Tera Type as it is still resistant Ice and Water-type moves and will increase Flash Cannon's power when Gholdengo Terastallizes.
As a special attacker, a Modest nature would be best. If your Bronzong happens to have a different nature, you can use a Modest Mint to change its nature to Modest.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards increasing the Pokemon's Special Attack and Special Defense. Max out these EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into HP. Give it a Shell Bell to help Gholdengo recover HP when it attacks.
Gholdengo Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1~2 | Use Nasty Plot twice to boost Gholdengo's Sp. Atk stat by four stages. |
Turns 3~5 | Use Flash Cannon to deal super-effective damage and build Tera Orb charge. |
Turns 6+ | Terastallize and alternate between Metal Sound and Flash Cannon to deal super-effective stat boosted damage. |
Start the raid by using Light Screen to reduce the damage your team will receive from Iron Bundle.
Then, use Nasty Plot three times to boost Gholdengo's Sp. Atk stat. After setting up, use Flash Cannon to deal Super Effective stat boosted damage while building Tera Orb Charge.
Once you have enough Tera Orb charge, Terastallize and alternate between Metal Sound and Flash Cannon to deal as much damage as possible. Keep attacking Iron Bundle using these moves until it goes down. You can sneak in a Nasty Plot in between attacks if you feel like you're not dealing enough damage.
Damage Dealt by Gholdengo |
|
---|---|
Flash Cannon (+6 Sp. Atk, Steel Tera) 3,004 ~ 3,536 (39.5 ~ 46.5%) |
These calculations were done using our Tera Raid Damage Calculator
Using this strategy it should take approximately 11~15 turns to take out the 7-Star Iron Bundle. More turns may be required, depending on when it will put up its shield and reset stat changes.

Thanks to Gholdengo's Good as Gold Ability, it is completely immune to status moves, making it a great counter against the likes of Amoongus, Dondozo and Gardevoir. Its typing is also good for offense, as its STAB Shadow Ball is only resisted by Dark, although Normal is immune.
We also recommend getting a Gholdengo with a Ghost Tera Typeas it will increase Shadow Ball's power when Gholdengo Terastallizes. As a special attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards increasing the Pokemon's Special Attack and HP. Max out these EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Defense. Shell Bell will allow it to recover HP each time it attacks with Shadow Ball.
Gholdengo Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1~3 | Use Metal Sound to reduce the raid boss' Special Defense stat to -6. |
Low HP Turn | Use Recover or attack with Shadow Ball to recover HP while dealing damage thanks to Shell Bell |
Turns 4~6 | Use Nasty Plot to boost Gholdengo's Special Attack stat to +6. |
Turns 7+ | Attack with Shadow Ball. Terastallize when possible and continue to use Shadow Ball. |
At the start of the battle, use Metal Sound 3 times to reduce the opponent's special defense. Then use Nasty Plot 3 times to give yourself boosts in Special Attack.
Use Recover or Shadow Ball when Gholdengo's health gets too low. Try not to get too greedy as the opponent may reset stats.
Once your set up is completely, proceed to attack with Shadow Ball, Terastallizing when possible.
Damage Dealt by Gholdengo |
|
---|---|
Shadow Ball (+6 Sp. Atk) 2,894 ~ 3,408 (59.55 ~ 70.12%) |
|
Damage Received by Gholdengo |
|
Psyblade (+2 Atk, Quark Drive) 168 ~ 198 (44.4 ~ 52.3%) Guaranteed 2-Hit KO |
Using this strategy it should take approximately 11~15 turns to take out the 7-Star Iron Leaves. More turns may be required, depending on when it will put up its shield and reset stat changes.

This Build is designed to counter Fairy Tera Pokemon in Tera Raids. Gholdengo matches up favorably against Tera Fairy Pokemon in Tera Raids, as it is resistant to Fairy-type attacks thanks to its Steel typing. Its typing is also good for offense, as Steel is super-effective against Fairy, while its Ability allows it to be immune to the effects of status moves.
We also recommend getting a Gholdengo with a Steel Tera Type as it is still resistant Fairy-type moves and will increase Make it Rain's power when Gholdengo Terastallizes. As a special attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards increasing the Pokemon's Special Attack and HP. Max out these EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Defense. Equip the Pokemon with Metal Coat to increase the power of Make it Rain.

Turn 1 | Use Taunt to prevent the opposing Pokemon from setting up. |
Turns 2~4 | Use Nasty Plot to boost Gholdengo's special attack stat. |
Turns 5+ | Use Make it Rain and KO the opposing Fairy-type. |
At the start of the battle, use Nasty Plot to give yourself boosts in Special Attack for stronger Make it Rains. You may also use Metal Sound to reduce the opponent's special defense, and Recover when Gholdengo's health gets too low. Try not to get too greedy as the opponent may reset stats. Use Make It Rain to KO the raid boss.

We also recommend getting a Gholdengo with a Steel Tera Type as it is resistant to ten types. As a special attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards increasing the Pokemon's Special Attack and HP. Max out these EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Defense. Equip the Pokemon with Wise Glasses to increase the power of Special Attack moves.
