Ability and Held Item

Ability Held Item
Compound Eyes Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Focus Sash ImageFocus Sash

The Ability chosen for this build is Compound Eyes. This increases Galvantula's accuracy by 30%, helping it land moves it normally wouldn't.

The item chosen for this build is a Focus Sash. This ensures that Galvantula will survive one hit and potentially get a second move off.

Moves Breakdown

Thunder Energy Ball
Sticky Web Thunder Wave

Thunder is its best Electric-type STAB move. With Compound Eyes, Thunder goes from a 70% accuracy move to 91%.

Energy Ball is its main coverage move to help Galvantula deal with Ground and Rock-types that would otherwise counter it.

Sticky Web lets Galvantula support its team by lowering the speed of grounded Pokemon that switch in on the opponent's side by one stage

Thunder Wave gives Galvantula another form of speed control by paralyzing the target and reducing their Speed stat by half. Compound Eyes also makes this a fully accurate move.

Pokemon Normal Type Icon Pokemon Fighting Type Icon

Ghost is the best Tera Type for this build because it makes Galvantula immune to getting quickly KO'd by Fake Out and Extreme Speed from Pokemon like Sneasler and Dragonite respectively.

Alternatively, it could use a Stellar Tera to boost the damage of whatever move it chooses to use and get an unexpected KO.

Best Ghost Type Pokemon

EV Spread and Nature

A full 252 EVs are placed into Galvantula's Sp. Atk and Speed to make it hit as hard and fast as possible. The extra 4 EVs are put in its HP to help round out its bulk.

A Timid nature is preferred to help Galvantula outspeed as many Pokemon as possible.

Other Viable Moves

Bug Buzz Galvantula's strongest Bug-type STAB moves that helps it deal with Ground-types that are immune to Thunder.
String Shot Lowers the target's Speed stat by two stages. Can be used over Thunder Wave to hit Ground-types that would otherwise be immune to it.

How to Use Galvantula Effectively

Don't Waste Your Terastallization

The purpose of Galvantula is to get knocked out after using Sticky Web so that your hyper-offensive Pokemon in the back can get a clean sweep. Try not to use your Terastallization on Galvantula unless it would be absolutely pivotal for the matchup.

How to Build a Team with Galvantula

Galvantula should be paired with hyper-offensive Pokemon that need some help outspeeding other fast Pokemon.

Sample Singles Team

Sticky Web Lead Physical Attacker Special Attacker
Galvantula ImageGalvantula Ogerpon (Hearthflame Mask) ImageOgerpon (Hearthflame Mask) Iron Bundle ImageIron Bundle

Galvantula is used to setup Sticky Web to help its allies outspeed other fast Pokemon. It also covers Ogerpon's Water and Flying weaknesses.

Hearthflame Ogerpon is one of the strongest attackers in the meta, with its only downside being that it cannot boost its own Speed with an item like Choice Scarf since it is locked into holding a Hearthflame Mask. It would need to use Trailblaze first in order to outspeed other faster Pokemon.

Iron Bundle no longer has to run a Booster Energy to help it outspeed other Pokemon like a Speed Booster Flutter Mane. It also covers Fire and Dragon-types that Hearthflame Ogerpon cannot threaten.
