Rillaboom ImageRillaboom Grassy Surge The user applies Grassy Terrain to the battlefield for five turns when it enters a battle.
Pincurchin ImagePincurchin Electric Surge The user applies Electric Terrain to the battlefield for five turns when it enters a battle.
Miraidon ImageMiraidon Hadron Engine The user summons Electric Terrain for five turns, and boosts its Special Attack stat by 30% while said terrain is active.
Galarian Weezing ImageGalarian Weezing Misty Surge The user applies Misty Terrain to the battlefield for five turns when it enters a battle.

Some Pokemon are able to set Terrain simply by entering the field. These are Pokemon with Abilities like Psychic Surge which sets up Psychic Terrain when it enters the field. Different Terrains have their own effects, each different from each other, such as preventing certain moves from being used, preventing status conditions, or increasing the damage of moves of certain types.

Electric Terrain Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Electric Type Moves Prevents Pokemon on the ground from sleeping and boosts the effectiveness of Electric-type moves on grounded Pokemon by 30%. Lasts for 5 turns.
Grassy Terrain Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Grass Type Moves Heals 6.25% HP of Pokemon on the ground per turn and increases the damage of Grass-type moves by 30% for five turns.
Ice Spinner Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Ice Type Moves The move destroys any terrain, and does not fail even if the ground hasn't been turned into a terrain.
Misty Terrain Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Fairy Type Moves This protects Pokemon on the ground from status conditions and halves damage from Dragon-type moves for five turns.
Psychic Terrain Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Psychic Type Moves Protects Pokemon on the ground from priority moves and powers up Psychic-type moves by 30% for five turns.
Steel Roller Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Steel Type Moves The user attacks while destroying the terrain. The move fails if the ground hasn't been turned into a terrain.

Some Pokemon are able to set Terrain manually using these Moves. This often comes with the advantage of coming after a Pokemon switches in. So if a Pokemon with a Terrain Ability enters the field, its effect will trigger first, allowing a Pokemon to set up Terrain right after.

Grimmsnarl is an effective user of Misty Terrain thanks to its Prankster Ability. This often lets Grimmsnarl protect its teammates from Status Conditions.

If Electric Terrain is active or if it's holding Booster Energy, the Pokemon's highest stat is boosted by 30% if the stat is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense or 50% if the stat is Speed.

Surge Surfer doubles Alolan Raichu's Speed stat in Electric Terrain, making it extremely difficult to outspeed.

Moves Affected by Terrain

Move Effect
Expanding Force Increases damage and hits both opponents while on Psychic Terrain by 50%.
Floral Healing Heals the user up to 50% of its Max HP. It heals 66.6% Max HP when in Grassy Terrain. Can use this move to target anyone except for the user.
Grassy Glide Gets a 1-stage increased Speed priority in Grassy Terrain, allowing it to go faster than most moves. If multiple Pokemon use a move with the same Speed priority, the one with higher Speed will go first.
Misty Explosion Increases the user's damage by 50% while in Misty Terrain.
Psyblade The user rends the target with an ethereal blade. This move's power is boosted by 50 percent if the user is on Electric Terrain.
Rising Voltage Doubles the damage when on Electric Terrain.
Terrain Pulse This move's type becomes the same as the type of terrain it's on and doubles its damage.

Indeedee-F and Armarouge are a dangerous duo to go up against on Ranked Battles, mainly because of their unpredictability. Both are protected from Priority Moves such as Fake Out and Dragonite and Chien-Pao's Sword of Ruin Extreme Speed.

Additionally, Armarouge's Expanding Force's damage output is boosted in this Terrain, and it also becomes a Spread Move in these conditions.

What Are Terrains?

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Terrains
Terrains are battlefield effects that affect all Pokemon on the ground giving them an assortment of benefits, including protection from certain moves, status conditions, as well as boosts and changes to some Moves' properties.

Flying-type Pokemon or Pokemon with Levitate are unable to enjoy the benefits of Terrain because they are not grounded.
