Liko's Pendant and Roy's Pokeball are mysterious artifacts in the Pokemon Horizons: The Series Anime that seem to have a connection with Terapagos and perhaps the Terastal Phenomenon. Read on to learn what we know so far about these two artifacts, their connections to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and the DLC, as well as who Liko and Roy are.
List of Contents
In an episode of the new anime series Pokemon Horizons, a new and never-before-seen Pokemon was teased during the episode.
The unnamed Pokemon came out of Liko's pendant, the main protagonist of the new series. This Pokemon shares similar appearance with Terapagos in that it has the same color and body structure. It also looks like a younger, underdeveloped form of the upcoming Legendary Pokemon in The Indigo Disk DLC, which may hint at it being either a pre-evolution or a weaker, initial form of Terapagos.
Ability-wise, the Pokemon is able to spawn an energy shield made up of hexagons, which further ties it with Terapagos whose shell is also made up of hexagons. It may also be tied to the mysteries behind Terastallization, which are still yet to be fully revealed in the games.
Official artwork of the mysterious Pokemon was released and further highlighting its uncanny resemblance to Terapagos. According to the Official Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Website:
This Pokémon is small in stature and not particularly strong, but when push comes to shove, it can crystallize the energy in its body to form a protective shield. Apparently, it can also assume a dormant state when it feels that its life is in danger by pulling its head, limbs, and tail into its shell and making itself look like a jewel. Its splendid aura is reminiscent of the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos, but this Pokémon’s name and true nature are shrouded in mystery.

As shown in the August 8th Pokemon Presents Video, the connection between the smaller Terapagos and the Larger Terapagos is that the smaller one is its Normal Form, while the Larger one is the Terastal Form.
No further information has been revealed as of yet regarding its abilities, aside from the fact that both Ogerpon and Terapagos are now both confirmed to have a special Terastal Form that is unique from other Pokemon's Tera forms.
Liko's Pendant was shown to resonate with Roy's equally mysterious Pokeball in the fourth episode of the series. It's currently unknown how these two artifacts are related, though Liko's Pendant may be a key component of the Tera Orb or may even be instrumental to evolving Terapagos' pre-evolution.
Liko's pendant, alongside Roy's Pokeball, is show to resonate and glow when a Pokemon is in trouble. In the preview of Episode 6, it shows the two items glowing after a Ceruledge defeats Sprigatito and Fuecoco.
In the latest Episode of Pokemon Horizons, Liko's Pendant resonated with Arboliva's Ancient Pokeball and the Baby Terapagos emerged again!
This time, Roy and Liko were surrounded by a Force Field and seemingly temporarily transported to another world, dimension or area. At this place, the silhouette of a mysterious man could be seen and he said that he wants them to find him and that place.
Liko and Roy also read the tale of the Ancient Traveller. In this story it is detailed how the traveller had 5 more companion Pokemon along with his Black Rayquaza, rounding out his team of 6. Each had a specific role on the team, with one climbing rocks and mountains, one traversing oceans, one soaring the skies, one travelling on land at blazing speeds, and another healing his team when needed.
Roy and Liko came to the conclusion that the Healer is Arboliva and now the Flying Pokemon is a Galarian Moltres, as they have returned ti their respective Ancient Balls (which Roy and Liko now carry)! While it is still a mystery what the other Pokemon are, perhaps they are either Paradox Versions, or Pokemon from different regions, with the 4th being perhaps a Paradox Entei, although this is all just speculation based on their depiction.

Ancient Traveller's Team in Pokemon Horizons Anime
Not much is known about the mysterious Pokeball that Roy owns though like Liko's artifact, it is most likely related to the Legendary Pokemon Terapagos or an as-yet unseen Mythical Pokemon.
Episode 11 of the Anime reveals that Roy's Pokeball is not the only one of its kind; as another is found held by a Gigantic Arboliva.
This could be a clue that this Pokeball not only has links to Terastallization, but also past gimmicks such as the Gigantamax Phenomenon.
In an episode of the new anime series Pokemon Horizons, a potential new and never-before-seen Terastal Form was teased during the episode.
A Shiny Tera Rayquaza emerged from the clouds after a beam shot out from Roy's Ancient Pokeball. It was sparkling like a Tera Pokemon, but without a 'Hat'. This Pokemon may have implications for a new Terastal form outside of what we know so far from the games, which may possibly be revealed in a future Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC.
There could potentially be new hatless, or potentially even Masked Tera Forms in the DLC for select fan-favorites, such as Starter and Legendary Pokemon.
Shiny Tera Rayquaza in Pokemon Horizons: Hatless New Tera Form?
Roy's mysterious Pokeball may function like the equally mysterious GS Ball, which was first introduced in Pokemon Crystal and was part of an aborted arc of the Johto Saga in the original Pokemon series.
According to an interview in 2008 with Masamitsu Hidaka, a director and storyboard artist for the original Pokemon Anime, the GS Ball contained a Celebi which would have had a bigger role in the anime.
This is referenced in the game Pokemon Crystal where, after receiving the GS Ball from an event, placing it on the Ilex Forest Shrine summons a wild Celebi that you could capture.
Another possible purpose for Roy's mysterious Pokeball is that it could be a type of Tera Orb. Since Liko's Pendant is likely a part of Terapagos, Roy's Pokeball might be his own way of being connected to the Terastal Phenomenon.
Additionally, Roy's Pokeball may also function as some sort of lock
, which requires a Key, being Liko's Pendant in order for it to be complete and unlock the power of Terastallization.
Tera Orb Location and How to Get
As seen in the fourth episode of Pokemon Horizons, Liko confirmed that her pendant resonated with Roy's Pokeball for an unexplained reason. If Roy's Pokeball does in fact contain Terapagos, then it would make sense that it would resonate with Liko's Pendant, which looks like a fragment from Terapagos' Shell.
As Roy explained to Liko, his Ancient Pokeball, which he calls the Inishie Pokeball was given to him by his grandfather. The term means ancient
or antique
, which might also explain why Roy has a passion for finding treasure.
As shown in the preview of Episode 6 of Pokemon Horizons: The Series, Roy's Pokeball finally opens up after resonating with Liko's Pendant.
This causes the Pokeball to shoot a gold light into the sky. It's currently unknown if this light is a Pokemon coming out of the Pokeball or if it's similar to the light when terastallizing a Pokemon as is in the games.
Liko is the protagonist of Pokemon Horizons: The Series. First shown enrolling in the Indigo Academy in the first episode, she also received a mysterious pendant from her grandmother that appears to have a connection with the mysterious Pokemon that looks like Terapagos.
LIko's partner Pokemon is a Sprigatito, which she obtained after enrolling in the Indigo Academy. Similar to Pikachu and Ash's initial relationship, Sprigatito is not as affectionate towards Liko but does appear to care for her.
Sprigatito Evolution, Type, and Learnset
Roy is one of the main characters of Pokemon Horizons: The Series alongside Liko. An energetic person with a passion for treasure hunting, he owns a unique and mysterious Pokeball given by his grandfather.
Although Roy doesn't have a partner Pokemon, he eventually befriends a Fuecoco on the fourth episode who he now travels with. Fuecoco is a shy but excitable Pokemon that loves singing and is show to easily trust people and other Pokemon that treat it well.
