Losing a Pokemon battle is an unfortunate experience for players playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on to learn what happens when you are overwhelmed in battle, and what to do when you lose a battle.
List of Contents
After you lose, you're taken back to your last healing spot. These healing spots can either be the last Pokemon Center you visited or your parent back in your hometown.
Additionally, you also lose money after losing a battle. It is still unknown how much money you'll lose after losing a battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but it will most likely depend on how many gym badges you have, how many Titan Pokemon you've conquered, and how many Starfall Bosses you've defeated.
In addition to losing money, the game will treat someone running away from a fight as a lost fight and will bring them to the nearest healing spot!
Every time a Pokemon faints, their Friendship level decreases. You should be more careful with Pokemon that evolve via Friendship and those whose moves increase in power with Friendship, as this sets them back.
Friendship Checker: How to Check Friendship
When losing in Tera Raids, you will be thrown out of the Tera Raid along with any of your friends who are with you!
Don't worry though! You can always challenge these Tera Raids again!
Tera Raid Battle Guide and How to Win
When you lose in an Online Battle, you don't lose any money so there's no need to worry about that! You can always try again by bringing Pokemon back, changing your strategy and the like!
In Ranked Battles, you should expect powerful opponents so be sure to ready yourself for that!
VGC Ranked Battle Rules and Banned Pokemon
Stocking up on Battle and Healing Items will make it easier to battle and defeat strong trainers. Most of these items can be used more than once in a battle, so it is wise to stock up on them before facing a strong opponent!
Before every major battle, remember to heal up and save your game! This way you can simple load it back up again if you need to restart the battle!
