A Wild Squirrel Pokemon - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

Want to catch different Pokemon out in the wild but they're not there at the moment? Have a picnic to force respawn wild Pokemon and get the ones you want! Read on to learn how to force respawn wild Pokemon, as well as what you can do to take advantage of this technique.

How to Force Respawn Wild Pokemon

Have a Picnic

1
Go to a field with wild Pokemon.
For best effect, go to a place where there's currently a Pokemon Mass Outbreak. In the picture above, there's a group of Golducks around the river.
2
If you don't see any Pokemon you want, have a Picnic
This removes all wild Pokemon currently in the field, and will reset the spawn in the surrounding area.
3
Pack up the picnic after a few minutes.
The field immediately before you will be empty, but wild Pokemon should spawn in at the edges. In the picture above, the group of Golducks was replaced by a group of Buizel and a Floatzel.
4
If these are the Pokemon you want, proceed with catching or defeating them.
If not, repeat steps 2 and 3.

What to Do When Force Respawning Wild Pokemon

Catch the Pokemon You Want

Catching a Pokemon - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

Force respawning wild Pokemon will reroll the wild Pokemon in the area avaiable for catching. This means if you want to catch a specific Pokemon in the area and you can't seem to find it, just lay down a picnic table.

Use Picnics to Hunt for Shiny Pokemon

Another way picnics are useful in getting the Pokemon you want is that they can also force spawn Shiny Pokemon into the area.

All you have to do is first go to a Mass Outbreak and defeat at least 60 Pokemon. You can use the Let's Go! feature to do this faster. Afterward, lay down a picnic table, wait for a few minutes, and pack it up to reset the area's wild Pokemon spawn. Repeat until you come across a Shiny Pokemon.
