Most moves that deal less than 60 Base Power (such as Rock Smash and Twister) are boosted up to 60 when Terastallized to the same type as that move in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on to learn which moves have less than 60 Base Power, their stats, and how they interact with Abilities and Terastallization.

Weak Moves Are Boosted When Terastallized

Same Type Moves with Less Than 60 Base Power Deal Increased Damage

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Metal Claw
Moves that have less than 60 Base Power will increase to 60 Base Power if it has the same type as its Tera-type. This means that a Tinkatink's Metal Claw will increase its base power from 50 to 60 once it terastallizes into a Steel-type.

Move Tera Type Boost
Metal Claw
Base Power: 50
Final Base Power: 60
Twister
Base Power: 40
Final Base Power: 60

Keep in mind that the boost in power is hidden and will not appear when checking the move summary during battle.

Priority Moves and Multi-Hit Moves are Unaffected

Moves that have increased priority don't benefit from the base power boost from terastallization. This includes moves that gain increased priority from Abilities, such as Talonflame's Gale Wings.

Similarly, the base power of multi-hit moves such as Bullet Seed and Population Bomb are not increased when terastallizing.

Tera Type Boost is Calculated After Technician

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Meowth Pay Day
Moves that have their base power increased by Abilities such as Technician are unaffected by the power boost from terastallization if their new Base Power is already 60 or above.

The boost from terastallization is always calculated after Technician's boost. This means that if the move is still below 60 base power after Technician, it will receive the boost from terastallization.
