Ability Held Item
Quark Drive Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Booster Energy ImageBooster Energy

Quark Drive is Iron Crown's only ability. With this build, it will boost its Sp. Atk by 30% once Quark Drive is activated by its Booster Energy.

Moves Breakdown

Tachyon Cutter Psyshock
Volt Switch Agility

Tachyon Cutter is its signature Steel-type STAB move that is guaranteed to hit twice, making it a 100 BP move. This is essential to help Iron Crown deal with opposing that have items and abilities like Focus Sash and Multiscale.

Psyshock is its best Psychic-type STAB move that targets the opponent's Defense instead of Sp. Def. This is important in case Iron Crown is getting walled by a Pokemon with a high Sp. Def.

Volt Switch is used to get Iron Crown out of a bad matchup while still doing a decent amount of damage in the process.

Agility helps Iron Crown outspeed opposing fast Pokemon since it is in a middling Speed tier.

Water is the best Tera Type for this build because it turns its Fire weakness into a resist. Also, Iron Crown normally resists Water's Grass and Electric weaknesses.

Alternatively, it could use a Stellar Tera as a more offensive option since it boosts the damage of whatever move it chooses to use.

EV Spread and Nature

A full 252 EVs are placed in Iron Crown's Sp. Atk and Speed to make it hit as hard and fast as possible. The extra 4 EVs are put into its HP to help round out its bulk.

A Timid Nature is preferred to help Iron Crown outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, most notably max Speed Urshifus.

Other Viable Moves

Calm Mind Helps boost its damage and bulk, but it is still susceptible to getting outsped by faster Pokemon.
Focus Blast Give Iron Crown a way to deal with Steel-types that resist both of its STAB moves.

Quark Drive Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Choice Specs ImageChoice Specs

As with all Future Paradox Pokemon, Iron Crown has Quark Drive. But even without ways to trigger it, it is still an effective Pokemon on its own. Choice Specs will allow Iron Crown to deal even more damage with Expanding Force, as well as its othe Special Attacks.

Moves Breakdown

Expanding Force Tachyon Cutter
Volt Switch Tera Blast

Expanding Force is a powerful Psychic-type STAB option that hits both foes in Psychic Terrain.

Tachyon Cutter is a Steel-type Special Attack that hits twice, which is great for knocking out Pokemon with Focus Sash.

Volt Switch allows Iron Crown to pivot out of the active positon. A useful tool in a Choice set.

Tera Blast is Iron Crown's coverage option, but requires it to commit to Terastallization.

EV Spread Explanation

A full 252 is put into Iron Crown's Special Attack stat along with a Modest Nature, ensuring that it has all the firepower it can get. 252 is put into its Speed stat to give it enough Speed to be attack as soon as possible. The remaining 4 EVs are put into HP to round out its bulk.

Other Viable Moves

Psychic A decent STAB option that does not need to rely on Psychic Terrain.

How to Use Iron Crown Effectively

Use Tachyon Cutter to Break Full HP Items and Abilities

Tachyon Cutter is in a unique spot of being a very powerful multi-hit move that isn't a contact move. This makes Iron Crown an extremely valuable Pokemon for disabling items and abilities like Focus Sash, Sturdy.

Do note that Tera Shell is unique in that it renders the whole attack as not very effective, meaning that the second hit of Tachyon Cutter will also be resisted.

How to Build a Team with Iron Crown

For Singles, Iron Crown is valuable for countering notable Pokemon like Cornerstone Ogerpon and Chien-Pao by bypassing Sturdy and Focus Sash respectively. This makes it a great Pokemon for teams that are looking to get quick OHKOs.

Sample Singles Team

Offensive Lead Physical Attacker Special Attacker
Iron Crown ImageIron Crown Chien-Pao ImageChien-Pao Terapagos ImageTerapagos

Iron Crown is used to counter leads that rely on Items and Abilities like Focus Sash to keep them alive. It also has Agility and Calm Mind to punish more passive leads.

Chien-Pao can then come in and get quick knockouts to allow Terapagos to Terastallize and secure a strong endgame.

Urshifu Rapid-Strike Style can be teched in to improve your matchup against Incineroar, while Flutter Mane can go head to head against Roaring Moon.
