Icy Wind helps with speed control by lowering the Speed of opposing Pokemon hit by 1 stage.
Helping Hand helps an ally Pokemon knock out its target by increasing the power of their attack by 50%.
Protect is used to keep Alolan Ninetales safe from any moves targeted towards it. Note that this does not work against both Urshifu forms because of their ability Unseen Fist.

Alolan Ninetales' main appeal is that it can setup Aurora Veil in one turn compared to having to setup Reflect and then Light Screen afterwards.
With its ability Snow Warning being able to setup Snow, Alolan Ninetales complements other Ice-types naturally by giving them a 1.5x boost to their Defense stat.
Alolan Ninetales is best used as a support Pokemon with its great support movepool. It also has a decent Special Attack stat, so you can use offensive moves to do some good damage to the opponent's Pokemon.

Alolan Ninetales | Baxcalibur | Ogerpon (Hearthflame Mask) |
Alolan Ninetales is the perfect lead for a Pokemon like Baxcalibur. Set up Aurora Veil and switch out to Baxcalibur, then start setting up with moves like Swords Dance or Dragon Dance to make it a monstrous threat.
Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon is also a great complement to Baxcalibur since it can threaten most types that wall it, while also being one of the strongest Pokemon in the current metagame.
Screens Setter | Bulky Special Attacker |

Alolan Ninetales | Hisuian Goodra |
Healer / Special Attacker | Healer / Trick Room Supp. |
Cresselia | Sinistcha |
Alolan Ninetales makes Hisuian Goodra nearly impossible to break through. Combine this with the healing and Trick Room support from Pokemon like Cresselia and Sinistcha, then Hisuian Goodra will be able to knock out your opponent's team before they can knock it out.
