The level of Pokemon in Gym Leader Teams does not scale with your level, regardless of the order you fight them in. That's why we recommend challenging gym leaders in the proper order from the lowest to the highest level so you won't have a hard time through the Victory Road storyline.
However, the gap between some Gyms' levels (such as Levincia and Cascarrafa) is high, so it is best to do all 3 Story modes (Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street) simultaneously for easy progression.

To beat Katy, it's best to bring Fire-type Pokemon with you to use their type advantage against Katy's Bug-type Pokemon. If you chose Fuecoco as your starter Pokemon, you will have an easy time beating her gym.
From Mesagoza's Western Gate, proceed west until you find the Grand Olive Orchard. Across this olive orchard is the town of Cortondo and Katy's gym.

Just like with Katy, Brassus' Grass-type Pokemon are weak against Fire-type moves. So bring along any Fire-type Pokemon with you before your match with him.
From Mesagoza's Eastern Gate, proceed east until you get past where Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan, is located. Keep proceeding west until you see Artazon and its windmill.

We recommend bringing along specific Pokemon to beat Iono, as just using Ground-type Pokemon against her Electric-type team might not cut it. Bring Clodsire and Cyclizar along to resist her Pokemon's moves and beat her.
From the eastern part of Artazon, go north until you reach a river, and follow it until you reach a bridge. Follow the road east and you will see a road that leads straight to Levincia and its Million Volt Skyline.

For this fight, we suggest bringing along Pokemon with Electric-type moves to counter Kofu's Water-type Pokemon. But be careful of Kofu's Veluza and Crabominable, which have Psychic, Ice, and Fighting-type moves as well.
From Cortondo, go northwest and turn right from the cliff face where you would find Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan.
But soon along this path, you'll find a blockade made by members of Team Star's Segin Squad, which you'll have to beat before getting to Cascarrafa City proper.

It's best to bring Fighting-type Pokemon when you're fighting Larry, whose Normal-type Pokemon will be weak against their moves.
Still be careful though, as some of his Pokemon have moves like Sucker Punch and Drill Run, which might put your team in a pinch if you're caught off-guard.
From Cascarrafa, head west through the Asado Desert and take a right at the crossroads. From here, you'll have to go east through Colonnade Hollow until you emerge from the other side into a valley and eventually find yourself at Medali.

To beat Ryme, bring along Dark-type Pokemon like Meowscarada or Grimmsnarl so they can both work together in the doubles battle you'll have against this gym leader's team.
From Eastern Medali, follow the road up to the Glaseado Mountain Path until you come across a Pokemon Center in the middle of the snow. Take a right and go across the snow along Glaseado Mountain; you should notice that as you follow the path, you are moving up the mountain. Soon, you should see the gates of Montenevera.

Just like with Ryme, Bring along Dark-type Pokemon to beat Tulip's Psychic-type critters. But don't forget to bring a few Ghost-type Pokemon as well, like Skeledirge.
From Western Cortondo, go up north until you come across the Pokemon Center you would've passed if you were going to Cascarrafa. Instead of going further up north, go south until you find the Alfornada Cavern. On the other side, you'll emerge West of the town of Alfornada.

Most of Grusha's Pokemon are Ice-types, which are weak to Fire and Fighting-type moves. So bring along Pokemon like Talonflame, Ceruledge or Armarouge. Skeledirge will be perfect for this fight as well.
From Montenevera, head south until you come across the end of the mountain path, then take a left. You should see trainers around the slope that leads up to the Pokemon Center next to the Glaseado Mountain Gym.
How to Get to Glaseado Gym (Glaseado Mountain)
At each of Paldea's eight Pokemon Gyms, you must pass a Gym Test to see if you are worthy enough to battle the Gym Leader. These tests range from normal trainer battles to rhythm games to a town-wide Sunflora hunt!
Once you beat these tests and the gyms they're associated with, some of the tests become fun mini-games you can play in your spare time.
All Gym Challenge Guides (Gym Puzzle Tests)
Much like Pokemon Sun and Moon's Island Trials, Gym Tests in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are unique to each Gym, showcasing both the culture of the town and the personality of its Gym Leader.
In Artazon, the Gym Leader Brassius is known as the "Verdant Virtuoso", and the town itself is known for both its flowers and art. That is why Brassius' Gym Test involves looking for Sunflora across town to help judge a trainer's aesthetic sensibilities.
Once you've completed a Gym Test, you'll be allowed to battle the local Gym Leader. Defeat them, and you'll gain a badge. Get eight badges, and you'll be given a chance to pass the Champion Assessment at Pokemon League Headquarters to earn the Champion Rank.
Elite Four: Best Team and Strategy
Once you've defeated a Gym Leader, you can earn a Gym badge from them. These Gym Badges not only serve as proof of defeating a leader, they also help you control and catch high level Pokemon you've obtained throughout your jouney.
