Metronome |
Amazing Attack Stat coupled with its Bulk. Access to Belly Drum and Drain Punch making it one of its best users on par with Iron Hands. Gets Screech as a level up move, being one of only two Pokemon who gets both it and Belly Drum. |
The best ability for Kommo-o in Tera Raid Battles is Overcoat. This lets Kommo-o gain an immunity to annoying Pokemon that like to use Powder moves like Spore and Stun Spore and lets it function with Sand teams as well.
However, a case could be made for either Bulletproof or Soundproof should the need arise, as these abilities lets Kommo-o get immunities to Bullet/Bomb moves and Sound moves respectively.
With access to both Belly Drum and Screech, Kommo-o is one of the best Pokemon to pick when it comes to Tera Raids that are weak to Fighting type moves.
A Fighting Tera Type in conjunction with a Metronome held item, allows Kommo-o to have great damage output combined with healing with consecutive Drain Punches.
As a Physical Attacker, an Adamant nature would work best for this Pokemon.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards increasing the Pokemon's HP and Attack. Max out your HP, and Atk EVs, while putting the remaining points into Defense. This allows Kommo-o to have decent bulk, while still having high offense.
Give Kommo-o a Metronome to boost the damage output of Drain Punch by 10% each time it is used consecutively!
Kommo-o Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1 | Use Taunt to prevent stat drops from status moves. |
Turns 2~4 | Use Screech three times. |
Turn 5 | Use Belly Drum. However, depending on the behavior of the Raid Boss, feel free to swap the debuffs and buffs if needed. |
Low HP Turn | Use Drain Punch to regain HP |
Turns 6+ | Use Drain Punch to deal large damage while also replenishing HP. Terastallize when possible. |
Start out the Tera Raid Battle by using Taunt to prevent stat drops from Status Moves.
Follow with 3 Screeches and follow it up with a Belly Drum. Depending on the behavior of the Raid Boss, feel free to swap out the two set up moves if needed. Use Drain Punch when HP is Low to regain HP.
Proceed to attack consecutively with Drain Punch to boost it's damage each turn, while also replenishing your HP.
When you have enough Tera Orb charge to terastallize, proceed to Terastalize and start spamming Drain Punch to damage the raid Pokemon's shield and finish the battle!

This Kommo-o Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to Normal, Rock, Ice, Dark, and Steel-type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss is usually a Fairy, Psychic, or Flying Type outside of Terastallization, perhaps consider a different build, as Kommo-o will be weak to these Types before Terastalizing.
