From December 20, 2024 to January 5, 2025, Pokemon with black-colored Shiny forms will appear in Paldea, Kitakami, and the Terarium at an increased spawn rate!
Cetoddle, Carbink, and Fraxure will appear in Mass Outbreak Events, and will have boosted Shiny odds. The event will run alongside Shiny Rayquaza's Tera Raid Event which will also be held on the same dates.
Mass Outbreak Events Schedule and Pokemon
Mass Outbreak Locations
This Mass Outbreak Event will be held in all three maps in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Cetoddle will appear in Paldea, Carbink will appear in Kitakami, and Fraxure will appear in the Terarium.
This means that only those that have purchased the DLC have access to the Carbink and Fraxure outbreaks.
Carbink and Fraxure Behind Base Game and Teal Mask Post-Game
The Carbink and Fraxure outbreaks will only appear in The Indigo Disk's Terarium, which is only accessible if you have finished both the base game and The Teal Mask's stories.
That means that if you want to hunt for a Shiny Carbink and Fraxure, you need to finish both the base game and The Teal Mask.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC
Has Boosted Shiny Chance
This Mass Outbreak Event will feature boosted Shiny encounter rates. You can further boost your chances of getting Shinies for all featured Pokemon with a Level 3 Sparking Power: Ice, Rock, Fairy, or Dragon sandwiches!

To join this mass outbreak event, you needed to connect your game to the Internet to update the game data. Once done, Cetoddle, Carbink, and Fraxure should start appearing on your map!
To connect to the Internet, simply press the X button to open the menu and press the L button to connect to the Internet.

Featured Pokemon Will Have Boosted Shiny Odds
This Mass Outbreak will not just have increased spawn rates for Cetoddle, Carbink, and Fraxure, but they will also have increased Shiny odds, which makes this a good time to hunt for a Shiny variant of these Pokemon!
Make and consume Sparkling Power Sandwiches, and use the Picnic Reset Method to make your shiny hunt easier!

No Boosted Mark Odds
The three Pokemon appearing in the Mass Outbreak will not have boosted Mark rates, so you will have standard odds of finding one with a Mark.
If you want to increase your chances of encountering a Pokemon with a title, you can get the Mark Charm from The Indigo Disk DLC.
