There, a group of people is participating in an exercise led by Dendra called the Emotional Spectrum Practice. It involves Dendra's Pokemon, Medicham, showing you a move that you'll have to copy.

Some of the people who participated in the exercises with you will challenge you to a Pokemon battle in between rounds of Emotional Spectrum Practice, so get ready to fight!

After the Emotional Spectrum Practice, go back into the gym building and talk to the receptionist to finish the challenge.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - Alfornada Gym Test Buttons ESP
The Emotional Spectrum Practice is kind of like a rhythm game in that you have a time limit on when you can show your pokemon's emotions. So make sure to press the right button before the timer runs out.

Alfornada Gym Trainers

In between the Emotional Spectrum Practice rounds, you'll have to fight two Pokemon Trainers. Their Pokemon are mostly Psychic-types, so counter them with Ghost-type moves, Bug-type moves, and Dark-type moves.
