Lycanroc finds usage as a Sand Abuser often partnered with Tyranitar. Its fast Rock Slide is great for fishing for flinches, while Close Combat is great for taking out Fighting-weak Pokemon like Kingambit.
Endeavor and Endure are a deadly combo, especially with Sand on your side.
Focus Sash gives Lycanroc some added survivability.
Tera Ghost is chosen to protect Lycanroc from Fake Out flinches especially because this build does not run Protect. It can also help against opposing Fighting-type moves, such as Priority Mach Punch.
| Bulldoze | Bulldoze is a Speed Control option that can also trigger a partnered Tyranitar's Weakness Policy. |
|---|---|
| Rock Tomb | Rock Tomb is an option for Speed Control that is also STAB, but doesn't damage Lycanroc's teammates. |
| Item: Safety Goggles | Close Combat 108 ~ 128 (52.1 ~ 61.8%) Guaranteed 2-Hit KO |
| Item: Safety Goggles | Close Combat 216 ~ 256 (104.3 ~ 123.6%) Guaranteed OHKO |
| Item: Sitrus Berry | Rock Slide 244 ~ 292 (152.5 ~ 182.5%) Guaranteed OHKO |
Lycanroc's high Speed especially in Sand makes it a very dangerous and effective user of Endeavor. It can put Pokemon to 1 HP and have Sand damage score the KO.
Endure makes sure that Lycanroc can survive for multiple turns where it can use Endeavor again.
Lycanroc is an excellent choice to be a Sand team's Sand abuser. Tyranitar is Lycanroc's current best partner, who naturally sets up Sand for it.
A strong back end couples well with a team's strong front end, so strategies that are difficult to break through like Dondozo + Tatsugiri make for great teammates for the Lycanroc + Tyranitar duo.

Tyranitar naturally sets up Sand for Lycanroc with its Sand Stream. Lycanroc benefits off this by being able to be a quick Rock Slide user. Tyranitar with Tera Flying to negate its weaknesses to Ground and Fighting can also spam Rock Slide for your team.
Dondozo and Tatsugiri are meant for a late-game that's difficult to break through for teams that are worn out from Lycanroc and Tyranitar's offense.
Moves like Fake Out can break Lycanroc's Focus Sash. This is especially good against it because Lycaroc do not typically run Protect.
Mach Punch from Breloom can also take out Lycanroc.
Lycanroc will lose its Speed boost if its Sand gets overwritten by other weather. Change the weather on turns where it is important to outspeed Lycanroc.
