Hydrapple can boost its damage output with Nasty Plot Its high defenses combined with the Shell Bell makes it difficult to knock out Tera Grass Energy Ball does a lot of damage and can reduce the opponent's Sp. Def |
The best ability for Hydrapple in Tera Raid Battles is Supersweet Syrup. Although evasive Pokemon aren't very common in Tera Raids, this ability still allows Hydrapple to hit them reliably.
We also recommend getting a Hydrapple with a Grass Tera Type in order to boost the power of Hydrapple's Grass-type moves. As a Special Attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards bulky offense on the Special side. Max out your Special Attack and HP EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Give it a Shell Bell in order to regain any lost HP.
Hydrapple Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1~3 | Set up using Nasty Plot until Hydrapple's Sp. Atk is at +6. |
Turns 4+ | Use Energy Ball until you defeat the Raid Boss. Terastallize when able. |
Optional Terrain | Use Grassy Terrain to boost the power of your Grass-type moves. |
Low HP Turns | Use Giga Drain to heal more HP. |
First, boost your Special Attack by using Nasty Plot. If your HP gets too low while setting up, make sure to weave in either a Giga Drain or a Heal Cheer.
If you want to deal even more damage and receive some passive healing, you can set up a Grassy Terrain. However, Hydrapple at +6 Special Attack should be enough to take down most Raid Bosses weak to it.
Once you're all set up, use Energy Ball until you defeat the Raid Boss, and Terastallize as soon as you can to deal even more damage. Energy Ball also has a chance to reduce the opponent's Special Defense, which may reduce the number of turns you need to defeat it.

This Hydrapple Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to Water, Ground, and Rock Type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss is usually a Poison, Flying, Bug, or Ice Type outside of Terastallization, perhaps consider a different build, as Hydrapple will be weak to these Types as a Grass-Type attacker.
