Moveset | ・
Dazzling Gleam
・ Psyshock ・ Mystical Fire ・ Trick Room |
Because it can protect itself with Magic Bounce, Hatterene's main obstacle to setting up Trick Room is direct damage. This build runs Tera Steel to resist Steel-type hits, and Babiri Berry to help Hatterene survive super-effective Steel-type Moves if you do not want to use up your Terastallization.
Mystical Fire is then used to dispose of Steel-types that give Hatterene problems.
Moonblast and Psyshock are Hatterene's main STAB moves, with Mystical Fire as its coverage Move.
Trick Room rounds out the moveset, as it is an important part of this build.

Ability | Magic Bounce |

Held Item | Life Orb |
Moveset | ・
Dazzling Gleam
・ Psyshock ・ Tera Blast ・ Trick Room |
This Hatterene build aims to immediately go on the offensive when in Trick Room, with its moveset composed of primarily damaging moves.
Tera Fire is this build's Tera Type of choice as it allows Hatterene to withstand super-effective Steel-type Moves by taking neutral damage. It can then threaten Steel-types back with Fire-type Tera Blast.
Protect | Protect is useful for defensive turns and for scouting opponents' Moves.. |

Damage Dealt by Hatterene |
|
---|---|
Fire Tera Blast 291 ~ 348 (178.5 ~ 213.4%) Guaranteed OHKO |
|
Life Orb Psyshock 161 ~ 190 (73.8 ~ 87.1%) Guaranteed 2-Hit KO |
Hatterene's main objective is to set up Trick Room as soon as possible. Under Trick Room's conditions, Hatterene can safely go on the offensive.
Hatterene is suited with teammates that can help it set up Trick Room through different means. Even though Hatterene itself has built-in protection in the form of Magic Bounce, it will need help taking direct damage.
Hatterene flourishes in Trick Room, therefore it appreciates teammates that can help it set up Trick Room.
Hatterene is also best with teammates that can take advantage of Trick Room as well.
Support | Trick Room Setter / Special Sweeper | Trick Room Sweeper |
---|---|---|
Cyclizar | Hatterene | Torkoal |
Cyclizar can support Hatterene by giving it a Substitute through Shed Tail. Having this extra layer of protection can help Hatterene consistently set up Trick Room.
Torkoal can take advantage of Trick Room with its slow Speed and Sun-boosted Eruption.
Trick Room Setter / Special Attacker | Support |
---|---|
Hatterene | Indeedee |
Special Attacker | Physical Attacker |
Torkoal | Kingambit |
Indeedee-F has consistently been an excellent partner for Hatterene ever since their introduction in Sword and Shield. With Follow Me redirecting Attacks away from Hatterene, Indeedee-F makes sure that Hatterene can set up Trick Room without much resistance.
Torkoal and Kingambit round up the back end of the team as Low-Speed, bulky Trick Room Attackers.
Hatterene has a very low HP Stat and middling defenses. Powerful super-effective hits should take it out with ease.
