Summary

The best ability for Chesnaught in Tera Raid Battles is Bulletproof. This gives Chesnaught's immunity to certain moves, improving your survivability against certain Raid Pokemon.

Best Tera Type

We also recommend getting a Chesnaught with a Fighting Tera Type because both Drain Punch and Hammer Arm's damage increase when you Terastallize to Fighting. As a Physical Attacker, Adamant nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize

EV Spread Explanation

Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards Bulky Offense. Max out your HP and Atk EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Defense. Give it Shell Bell to help Chesnaught recover HP after it deals damage.

Tera Raid Strategy

Chesnaught Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy
Turn 1 Use Belly Drum to maximize Chesnaught's Attack stat.
Turns 2~4 and Low HP Turns Use Drain Punch to recover HP back to full health.
Turns 5+ Terastallize and repeatedly use Hammer Arm.

Start Tera Raid battles by using Belly Drum to immediately maximize Chesnaught's Attack stat. Since Belly Drum will bring your HP down to 50%, use Drain Punch for the next few turns to recover HP back to full health.

With Belly Drum boosts, Chesnaught should be able to maintain its HP above 60% with healing from Drain Punch, or through Shell Bell. Once you have enough Tera Orb charge, Terastallize and repeatedly use Hammer Arm until the Raid Pokemon is defeated.

Summary

The best ability for Chesnaught in Tera Raid Battles is Overgrow. This boosts the power of Chesnaught's Grass-type moves once it falls to around 30% HP.

With access to Belly Drum, Chesnaught is set to rival Belly Drum and Azumarill.

Best Tera Type

We also recommend getting a Chesnaught with a Grass Tera Type to further boost Seed Bomb and Giga Drain's damage after Belly Drum and Grassy Terrain setups. As a Slow Hybrid Attacker, Brave nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize

EV Spread Explanation

Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards Bulky Offense. Max out your HP and Atk EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Give it Shell Bell to help Chesnaught recover HP after it deals damage.

Tera Raid Strategy

Chesnaught Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy
Turn 1 Use Belly Drum to maximize Chesnaught's Attack stat.
Turn 2 Use Grassy Terrain to give Chesnaught passive healing while also boosting Grass-type damage.
Turns 3~5 Use Giga Drain to recover HP back to full health. Use Seed Bomb instead when at full HP.
Turns 6+ Terastallize and use Seed Bomb. Use Grassy Terrain again as needed.

Start Tera Raid battles by using Belly Drum to immediately maximize Chesnaught's Attack stat. Against most Pokemon, Chesnaught should be able to survive even with 50% HP, giving you space to set up Grassy Terrain.

With Belly Drum and Grassy Terrain boosts, Chesnaught should be able to maintain its HP above 60% with healing from Giga Drain, or through Shell Bell. Continue cycling through Seed Bomb and Giga Drain, depending on your remaining HP, and then Terastallize once you have enough Tera Orb charge to end the raid faster.
