Shiny Pokemon can be distinguished in the Overworld by their unique colors in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on to learn how to tell a Pokemon is Shiny and tips for spotting them!
How to Identify Shiny Pokemon
---
✦ Shiny Pokemon have different colorations. ✦ At the start of an encounter, a shiny Pokemon will have a shiny, sparkling effect upon entering the battle. ✦ Let's Go Pokemon will not fight Shiny Pokemon. ✦ Once captured, will display a Shiny Symbol on their summary screen.
Apart from their different colors, you can also identify Shiny Pokemon by a unique animation that plays before the battle starts. Shiny Pokemon will have a shining effect whether they're sent out from their Poke Balls or encountered in the wild.
Once captured, Shiny Pokemon also display a Shiny Symbol on their status page in the form of 2 red four-pointed stars (✦).
Shiny Hunting Guide: All Shiny Odds
Trainers don't need to worry about accidentally knocking a shiny out when sending out Pokemon via the Let's Go Function! They will actually avoid fainting Shiny Pokemon. They will shake their heads, and a Sweat Drop Icon will appear by their Health bar on the lower left before retreating. This will allow Trainers to still snag them!
But, in Multiplayer, other players can engage in battle with Shiny Pokemon and snag them!
Tips for Spotting Shiny Pokemon
---
✦ Clear the Area With Let's Go Pokemon ✦ Make the Most of Outbreaks ✦ Refresh Spawns with Picnics
It's easy to miss a Shiny Pokemon, especially when they no longer have a sound effect when they appear in the Overworld. This means that even when passing by a Shiny Pokemon, you will only have visual cues to signify that they're there.
When searching for Pokemon, send your Let's Go Pokemon to clear the area of other Pokemon! If there's any Pokemon they're avoiding, then you know that a Shiny Pokemon has appeared!
Unfamiliar with the Shiny version of the Pokemon you're looking for? One easy way to spot a Shiny Pokemon is by hunting them in Outbreaks.
Not only will you increase your chances of nabbing a Shiny, but you can easily spot them in a group of regular Pokemon!
Mass Outbreaks Guide: How do Mass Outbreaks Work
Can't spot a Shiny? You can respawn them by setting up a Picnic and taking it down immediately after! This will refresh the area if you're having trouble spotting Pokemon and help increase your chances of spotting a Shiny!
You can also eat foods to increase your chances of finding Shiny Pokemon. Look for foods with the Sparkling Power!
