Ability | Electric Surge |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Terrain Extender |
Moveset | ・
Discharge
・ Spikes ・ Memento ・ Thunder Wave |
Discharge is used over Thunderbolt as it gives Pincurchin better chances at paralysis, while still dealing damage. It is also a decent user of Spikes, which can punish opponents who switch their Pokemon repeatedly.
Memento works well with Pincurchin's low Speed Stat, because Pincurchin will always attack last, allowing a teammate to come in safely after Memento has debuffed an opponent's offenses.
Thunder Wave rounds out the set, being a move that guarantees more consistent paralysis comparedd to Discharge at the cost of not dealing damage.
Terrain Extender is Pincurchin's preferred Held Item because it ensures that Electric Terrain stays on the field longer for its teammates.
Thunderbolt | Thunderbolt gives Pincurchin an option to deal more damage than Discharge with a lower paralysis chance. |

Ability | Electric Surge |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Magnet |
Moveset | ・
Zing Zap
・ Sucker Punch ・ Thunder Wave ・ Chilling Water |
A Physically offensive Pincurchin is able to deal solid damage if given the chance. Besides setting terrain with Electric Surge, it can also punish Trick Room Pokemon by being slower than them.
Zing Zap is able to 2HKO Torkoal and reduce its Eruption damage, while Sucker Punch 2HKOs Flutter Mane if it does not Tera Fairy. Thunder Wave is used as a means of Speed Control when necessary.
Lastly, Chilling Water works as a way to reduce a Physical Attacker's damage output.
Magnet is equipped to ensure that Zing Zap does as much damage as possible in Electric Terrain.
Memento | Memento allows a teammate to come in safely after an opposing Pokemon's offense has been debuffed. |

Item: Charcoal | Zing Zap 98 ~ 116 (63.2 ~ 74.8%) Guaranteed 2-Hit KO |
Damage Received by Pincurchin |
|
Item: Clear Amulet | Earthquake 164 ~ 196 (105.8 ~ 126.4%) Guaranteed OHKO |
Item: Clear Amulet | Earthquake 122 ~ 146 (78.7 ~ 94.1%) Guaranteed 2-Hit KO |
Item: Life Orb | Earthquake 174 ~ 205 (112.2 ~ 132.2%) Guaranteed OHKO |
One of Pincurchin's weaknesses is also one of its best strengths: its abysmally low Speed. Pincurchin's low Speed Stat makes it so Electric Surge will always go up last when up against Indeedee-F.
Pincurchin will always move last when using Memento, which allows a teammate to safely enter the field.
Pincurchin also underspeeds Torkoal, which means that it can move ahead of Torkoal under Trick Room conditions and attempt to flinch it with Zing Zap. The damage from one Zing Zap can also reduce Eruption's Base Power drastically after doing about 60% to Torkoal.
Pokemon with Quark Drive benefit greatly from Pincurchin's Electric Surge, so teammates with these Ability are highly recommended. Pokemon with Unburden and Electric Seed also benefit from Electric Terrain.
Terrain Setter | Physical / Special Attacker | Physical Attacker |
---|---|---|
Pincurchin | Iron Valiant | Hawlucha |
Pincurchin can set Electric Terrain for its teammates. Debuffing an opponent and having Pincurchin faint with Memento can allow a teammate like Iron Valiant with Quark Drive to come into play safely.
Hawlucha with Unburden becomes very difficult to outspeed, and can be a troublesome Pokemon for opponents to go up against. Its mediocre defenses also benefit from Memento's debuffs.
Support | Special Attacker |
---|---|
Pincurchin | Iron Bundle |
Physical Attacker | Support / Special Attacker |
Iron Hands | Abomasnow |
Pincurchin can be an enabler for Quark Drive Pokemon like Iron Bundle and Iron Hands.
Iron Bundle can handily take care of Ground-types that give Pincurchin trouble, with Abomasnow buffing Iron Bundle's Defense with its Snow Warning.
Iron Hands offers Fake Out support, which can open opportunities for Pincurchin to paralyze foes with Thunder Wave.
With Pincurchin's poor Speed, nearly all notable Ground-types will outspeed it. These Ground-types also usually have high Physical Attack Stats, and can make quick work of Pincurchin.
