Rillaboom can also bring the team valuable Speed Control through Drum Beating. Knock Off is a strong utility Move that can remove an opponent's important Held Item.
Rillaboom is best utilized as a switch-in to Surging Strikes, and for forcing Protects out of Chien-Pao. Do note however, that Chien-Pao wins the 1-on-1 against Rillaboom.

Heatran is a powerful Pokemon in Regulation D thanks to Terastallization. Tera Grass keeps it safe from Ground and Water-type Attacks, while a Grass Tera Blast can deal with Ground and Water-type threats.
With Terastallization, Heatran becomes the best Grass-type in Regulation D outside of actual Grass-types like Rillaboom and Amoonguss.

---|---|
EV Spread | 44 HP / 4 Def / 228 Sp. Atk / 4 Sp. Def / 228 Spe |

Tera Poison Sludge Bomb can take out bulky Flutter Mane and deal big damage to Tera Grass Heatran and Rillaboom.

Bulky Galarian Zapdos becomes a difficult obstacle to overcome for unprepared opponents thanks to its modest bulk that it can boost even further with Grassy Seed and Bulk Up. It has natural synergy with Rillaboom, whose Grassy Surge activates its Grassy Seed.
Position Galarian Zapdos for a late-game sweep after building up defenses with Grimmsnarl.
Galarian Zapdos Movesets and Best Builds
Grimmsnarl |
Landorus (Incarnate Forme) |
Heatran |
Rillaboom |
Grimmsnarl is always a good lead choice because of its access to Screens and Speed Control through Thunder Wave. Rillaboom makes an appearance in the back as a check to Rapid-Strike Urshifu. While Heatran improves the team's matchup against Ice-types like Chien-Pao, who do not frequently run Sacred Sword.
Rillaboom |
Galarian Zapdos |
Urshifu Rapid-Strike Style |
Heatran |
Rillaboom's Grassy Surge can immediately trigger Galarian Zapdos's Grassy Seed and give it a Defense boost. With Fake Out support, Galarian Zapdos can comfortably set up Bulk Up and position itself as an offensive tank.
Grimmsnarl |
Rillaboom |
Urshifu Rapid-Strike Style |
Galarian Zapdos |
Grimmsnarl once again makes an appearance as a lead, setting up screens for Rillaboom, while Rillaboom uses Fake Out or U-Turn, or switches out. With this defensive lead, Urshifu and Galarian Zapdos can switch in with little opposition, and proceed to dish out damage.
Landorus (Incarnate Forme) Tera Type: |
Urshifu Rapid-Strike Style Tera Type: |
Landorus-I and Rapid-Strike Urshifu can both Terastallize offensively to give their STAB moves an extra boost. Both of these Pokemon are strong offensive Tera options in a match.
Grimmsnarl Tera Type: |
Heatran Tera Type: |
Rillaboom Tera Type: |
Galarian Zapdos Tera Type: |
Four of the six Pokemon on this team have defensive Teras.
Grimmsnarl, while a rare Tera option, has a Steel Tera so that it can resist Fairy and gain a Poison immunity.
With Terastallization, Heatran becomes a Grass-type that's immune to Fire. Rillaboom gains an immunity to Will-O-Wisp, but its Fire Tera makes it susceptible to opposing Rapid-Strike Urshifu.
Lastly, Galarian Zapdos's Electric Tera gives it only one weakness: Ground.
Cresselia Levitate |
Ursaluna Guts |
Farigiraf Armor Tail |
Trick Room is this team's most difficult matchup, with very limited ways of stopping it. Strategic use of Screens, Fake Out, and Bulk Up can help you survive Trick Room turns.
