Summary

The best ability for Magearna in Tera Raid Battles is Soul Heart due to the automatic Sp. Atk Buff it gives after an ally Pokemon is KO'd. Combined with the chance of Flash Cannon to debuff the Raid Pokemon's Sp. Def, Magearna can easily whittle down at its HP without the need for set-up moves.

Best Tera Type

We recommend getting a Magearna with a Steel Tera Type since it will improve the power of it Steel-type Flash Cannon attack. As an Attacker with a focus on Special Moves, a Modest nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize

EV Spread Explanation

Max out Magearna's HP and Sp.Atk EVs while adding the remaining 4 EVs into Defense so that Magearna can hit as hard as possible with Flash Cannon and Aura Sphere.

For this build, giving it a Shell Bell allows it to recover health while dealing damage.

Tera Raid Strategy

Magearna Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy
Turn 1 Use Reflect in order for your Magearna to take more Hits.
Turns 2~4 Use Charge Beam to build up your Tera Orb Charge while gaining Sp. Atk buffs.
Turns 5+ Terastallize and use Flash Cannon. You can also use Draining Kiss to heal yourself if needed.
When Reflect Runs Out Recast Reflect to survive the opponent's onslaught of attacks.

Start off by setting up a Reflect if you do not get paired with a Pokemon that most likely knows it; e.g. an Umbreon or a Grimmsnarl. Afterwards, start using Charge Beam to raise your Sp. Atk while also building your Tera Orb charge.

If needed, you can also heal yourself with Draining Kiss. Also, remember to recast Reflect if it has run out of turns.

When you have enough Tera Orb charge to terastallize, proceed to Terastalize and start spamming Flash Cannon to damage the raid Pokemon's shield and finish the battle. You can add more uses by raising Flash Cannon's PP by using a PP Up or PP Max.

Magearna Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy
Turns
1, 7, 13
Use Misty Terrain to boost your Fairy-Type Moves.
High HP Turns Attack with Dazzling Gleam.
Low HP Turns Recover HP with Draining Kiss
+6 Sp. Atk Turns Use Fleur Cannon to deal a maximum damage! (this will result in a -2 Sp. Atk debuff so only use when at max Sp. Atk or as a finishing move)

Start off by setting up a Misty Terrain to boost your Fairy-Type moves. You should repeat this step on turns 7 and 13 when Misty Terrain expires.

On turns where your HP is running low, heal yourself while dealing damage with Draining Kiss.

On turns where your HP is in good shape, attack with Dazzling Gleam instead, as it is almost twice as powerful as Draining Kiss.

On turns where Magearna has reached +6 Sp. Atk, attack with Fleur Cannon! This is almost twice as powerful as Dazzling Gleam. This will result in a -2 Sp. Atk drop for Magearna, but it will quickly pick up those boosts again as more allies faint thanks to its Soul-Heart Ability!

On turn 5, When you have enough Tera Orb charge to terastallize, proceed to Terastallize and continue alternating between Draining Kiss, Dazzling Gleam and Fleur Cannon as necessary, to damage the raid Pokemon's shield and finish the battle!
