Flash Fire | Choice Scarf |
Choice Scarf Typhlosion's chosen Ability is Flash Fire. This makes it a valuable switch-in to Fire-type moves, and makes it a powerful ally to Fire-weak Pokemon on your team.
The chosen Held Item for this build is Choice Scarf, which can allow Typhlosion to use fast Eruptions and potentially sweep through your opponnt's team.
Eruption | Overheat |
Solar Beam | Shadow Ball |
Eruption is Typhlosion's most powerful Move and is the most important move of this set.
Overheat gives Typhlosion a powerful STAB option for when it has to attack with minimal HP.
Solar Beam is its first coverage Move. This is best used with Sun set up by a teammate, otherwise Typhlosion will waste a turn setting it up.
Shadow Ball is Typhlosion's second coverage Move that's useful for hitting most types for neutral damage. This is especially useful for when Typhlosion must attack a Pokemon that resists fire, but you cannot waste a turn with Solar Beam.

Best Fire Type Pokemon for Ranked Battle
It is important to max out Special Attack and Speed for Typhlosioin, as it needs to always hit hard and fast.
The remaining EVs are put into Special Defense to raise it by 1 point so that it can better take Special Moves.
A Timid Nature is given to maximize Typhlosion's Speed.
Will-O-Wisp | A useful Move for reducing an opposing Physical Attacker's offensive power. Consider this move if Typhlosion is not holding a Choice item. |
---|---|
Focus Blast | A powerful, yet inaccurate Move that is great for OHKO-ing Fighting-weak Pokemon, namely Tyranitar. |

Game8's Competitive Damage Calculator
While Typhlosion lacks Special Type coverage, its choices for Special Fire-type Moves are vast and varied. This makes it a consistent Mono Fire-type Special Attacker.
Choice Scarf and Choice Specs will help boost Typhlosion's Speed and Special Attack respectively. Choice Items are very important for Typhlosion, as it needs the stat boosts that it gains from being equipped with them.
Singles Choice Scarf Typhlosion works well when it is switching in for a teammate, or after a teammate is knocked out. It must always enter the field safely, as its HP is valuable for keeping Eruption powerful.
Doubles Choice Specs Typhlosion appreciates a teammate with Speed Control, which will allow it to deal huge damage with fast Eruptions.
Physical Attacker | Special Attacker | Special Attacker |
---|---|---|
Scizor | Typhlosion | Wash Rotom |
Scizor can be menacing especially after a successful Swords Dance. Having Flash Fire Typhlosion as a teammate who can switch into a Fire-type attack will allow you to switch Scizor out without feeling bad about the stat increases.
Wash Rotom rounds out the team as a Pokemon with a Ground immunity who is also a good check to Water-types.
Support | Special Attacker |
---|---|
Murkrow | Typhlosion |
Special Attacker | Special Attacker |
Torkoal | Lilligant |
Murkrow pairs nicely with Typhlosion as it can allow Typhlosion quickly use Eruption after Murkrow sets up Tailwind. Murkrow can also manually set up Sunny Day.
Torkoal and Lilligant are Pokemon that also benefit greatly from Sun, with Torkoal having Drought, and Lilligant having Chlorophyl.
Typhlosion is greatly hindered by its limited Special movepool, making it very easy to wall. Its modest Base 100 Speed, is also fairly easy to outspeed.

Just want to go out of my way to say "Respect" to ANYONE involved in the layout and formatting framework used and filling it in yea respect. Only thing I can say not extremely positively is the little links to learn about the different team combination pools. If it opened as a new tab or new tab within the current tab (brave browser android) would be gr8 thankyou :)
