This is a heavily defensive team that is best used by more experienced players since this team relies on being able to tank hits while setting up the team's sweepers for a strong endgame.
Precise execution is required to win because more offensive teams can easily knockout your Pokemon if you choose the wrong moves or Pokemon to bring.
Nature | Bold (+Def, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 178 HP / 160 Def / 141 Sp. Atk / 100 Sp. Def / 103 Spe |
Ability | Heatproof |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Rocky Helmet |
Moveset | ・
Scald
・ Matcha Gotcha ・ Strength Sap ・ Shadow Ball |
This Sinistcha is built to withstand attacks from opposing physical attackers. With its solid Defense stat, combined with Scald and Matcha Gotcha burning the target, Sinistcha becomes an amazing defensive attacker that opposing physical attackers have difficulty dealing with.
Sinistcha also has access to Strength Sap, which heals it for the same amount as the target's Attack stat. It will also reduce their Attack by one stage, making Sinisctha even harder for physical attackers to knock out.

Nature | Jolly (+Spe, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spe |

Ability | Bulletproof |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Sitrus Berry |
Moveset | ・
Clangorous Soul
・ Iron Head ・ Drain Punch ・ Earthquake |
Kommo-o boosts all of its stats with Clangorous Soul making it both hit harder and tank hits better. With both Sitrus Berry and Drain Punch healing, Kommo-o can become a difficult threat to remove that will sweep any unprepared teams.

Nature | Bold (+Def, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Sp. Atk |
Final Stat Values | 202 HP / 137 Def / 116 Sp. Atk / 110 Sp. Def / 80 Spe |
Ability | Magic Guard |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Kee Berry |
Moveset | ・
Stored Power
・ Moonlight ・ Moonblast ・ Calm Mind |
Clefable can become a very tanky setup sweeper if left unchecked. Its Kee Berry will boost its Defense after it's hit by a physical attack and Calm Mind boosts both its Sp. Atk and Sp. Def.
These defensive boosts, combined with Moonlight healing and Magic Guard blocking any indirect damage, make it a difficult threat to remove once it's set up.
Clefable Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Impish (+Def, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 182 HP / 115 Atk / 184 Def / 95 Sp. Def / 124 Spe |
Ability | Poison Heal |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Toxic Orb |
Moveset | ・
Protect
・ Earthquake ・ Substitute ・ Toxic |
Gliscor's Poison Heal ability and naturally high Defense stat make it a great defensive wall in the current meta. With access to the combination of Toxic, Substitute and Protect, Gliscor can stall out opponents with poison damage unless they have the tools to remove it from battle.
Gliscor Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 4 Sp. Atk / 252 Sp. Def |
Final Stat Values | 191 HP / 108 Def / 132 Sp. Atk / 168 Sp. Def / 80 Spe |
Ability | Competitive |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Leftovers |
Moveset | ・
Stealth Rock
・ Yawn ・ Flash Cannon ・ Flip Turn |
This Empoleon build makes it an incredible specially defensive wall that can be switched into tank hits for its allies. It can also offensively switch out of bad matchups with Flip Turn.
Empoleon can also be used as an effective hazards lead with Stealth Rock. It also stops opposing setup leads from heavily setting up with Yawn.
Empoleon Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 4 Sp. Def |
Final Stat Values | 198 HP / 126 Def / 200 Sp. Atk / 127 Sp. Def / 97 Spe |
Ability | Flash Fire |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Assault Vest |
Moveset | ・
Flash Cannon
・ Earth Power ・ Magma Storm ・ Tera Blast |
Heatran is already naturally bulky, so this build makes use of the Assault Vest item to make its Sp. Def even bulkier. Since it is holding an Assault Vest, Heatran becomes the most offensive Pokemon on this team since it is forced to use only attacking moves.
The most important attack to take note of on this build is Magma Storm because it will prevent the target from being able to switch out. This can be used to punish opponents with a bad matchup versus Heatran that don't switch out.

Team Strategies and Options |
---|
Each Pokemon on this team is built to deal with specific types of matchups. Don't bring a Pokemon just because they have a type advantage against the opponent, but bring them because they counter the build that the opponent would be using.
More Defensive | More Offensive |
---|---|
Gliscor |
Sinistcha |
These Pokemon are built to deal with physical attackers, not special ones. Gliscor can easily get one shot by Iron Bundle's Freeze-Dry and Sinistcha cannot sustain itself with Strength Sap draining the low Attack stat from special attackers.
Gliscor is the more defensive of the two and is built to stall out teams by badly poisoning the enemy with Toxic and heal itself with the combination of Toxic Orb and Poison Heal.
Sinistcha is the more offensive one since it can fish for burns with Scald and Matcha Gotcha while also healing itself with Matcha Gotcha and Strength Sap.
More Defensive | More Offensive |
---|---|
Empoleon |
Heatran |
These Pokemon are built to deal with special attackers, not physical ones. Both of these Pokemon can be easily threatened by the common Close Combat and Earthquake users in the current meta, like Urshifu Rapid-Strike and Landorus Therian respectively.
Empoleon is the more defensive of the two since it is meant to be used as a defensive pivot being able to switch in and out of matchups.
Heatran is the more offensive one since it can only use attacks because of its Assault Vest. It can also be switched into tank hits for its allies.
Physical Attacker | Special Attacker |
---|---|
Kommo-o |
Clefable |
These Pokemon are built to setup to be able to tank hits from the opponent and deal massive damage in return.
Kommo-o is a physical attacker that can boost its bulk and offense with Clangrorous Soul. Drain Punch can help heal itself and Terastallizing to Steel can give it a bunch of resistances making Kommo-o very difficult to knock out.
Clefable is a special attacker that is built to tank physical hits with a Kee Berry, but it can also boost its Sp. Def with Calm Mind. Clefable also has access to Moonlight to help heal itself to get more Calm Mind boosts.
Make sure to understand the opponent's team and recognize what their win condition is. Once you identify what their most important Pokemon are, make sure to preserve the Pokemon or Terastallization that can best deal with their team for last.

Pokemon/Tera to Preserve | ||
Sinistcha |
Against a hyper-offensive team like this, Sinistcha is a great Pokemon to save for the endgame due to the amount of physical attackers on the team. It is also ideal to save Terastallization for Sinistcha to help it deal with potential super-effective attacks targeted at it.
