Mr. Hassel Friendship Events

Speaking to Mr. Hassel

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Professor Events Mr Hassel
Entering the Art Room, Mr. Hassel will ask you a few questions about your choice to battle out the Gyms. The resulting discussion will make him happy, and you'll be closer to him afterward!

Mr. Hassel and the Mysterious Woman

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Professor Events Mr Hassel 2
You'll catch Mr. Hassel in the schoolyard, and after a brief conversation a woman will show up, asking for his time. He won't give an explanation as he leaves, but will thank you for your time. You'll be even closer after.

Mr. Hassel's Dilemma

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Mr. Hassel at the Academy Front Entrance 3
Mr. Hassel will be hanging out at the Academy Entrance Hall, where he'll tell you that the woman from your previous conversation is a relative of his in a family of Dragon-type Pokemon trainers. He's being told to quit his teaching gig and become the family's new head.

Reassure him

He'll wonder whether or not he's cut out for being a teacher, and it's up to you to reassure him that he's great at his job. After this conversation, you'll feel that you've become a trusted friend of Mr. Hassel.

Mr. Hassel's Decision

Mr. Hassel
You'll find Mr. Hassel in the Art Room, where he'll tell the mysterious woman that he has made the final decision to stay at the Academy as a teacher, and not become the leader of his family.

Once the woman leaves, he'll say that your encouragement and that of the other students convinced him to stay.

Rewards for Completing Mr. Hassel's Friendship Events

Dragon Tera Shards

For your help, Mr. Hassel will give you 50 Dragon Tera Shards. You'll also develop a close bond with each other!

Tera Shards are used to change a Pokemon's Tera Type in Medali's Treasure Eatery, but this feature can only be unlocked after defeating Medali's Gym Leader, Larry. You'll need a total of 50 Tera Shards to change a Pokemon's Tera Type.

Hassel's Dragon-type team has a glaring weakness to Fairy-type moves in both rematches just like his Elite Four Team, with only Dragalge and Duraludon being neutral.

Flutter Mane is one of the best counters for his team as it can deal heavy damage to all of his Pokemon and has Psyshock to deal with Dragalge.

Iron Valiant is another great counter since it also boasts Fighting-type STAB to deal with Duraludon.
