What Kinds of Pokemon Can Be Transferred?

There are certain patterns which determine which Pokemon can be transferred into the game. Those which do not meet one of these conditions will have to wait until they hopefully become available later on in the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC!

Transfer Pokemon Available in Paldea

Grimmsnarl ImageGrimmsnarl Stantler ImageStantler Skuntank ImageSkuntank

Pokemon from older games which are also in the Paldea Dex can be transferred into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Paldea Pokedex: List of All Pokemon

Transfer Pokemon With Forms Not Native to Paldea

Alolan Raichu ImageAlolan Raichu Galarian Slowpoke ImageGalarian Slowpoke Hisuian Zorua ImageHisuian Zorua

Pokemon with special Regional Forms from older games which can be caught in their normal form in Paldea can be transferred into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Transfer Regional Evolutions of Pokemon

Quagsire ImageQuagsire Perrserker ImagePerrserker Kleavor ImageKleavor

Certain evolutions of Pokemon that are available in Paldea but are only able to evolve to a certain form in another Region can also be transferred into the game.

Transfer Starter Pokemon from Certain Regions

Charizard ImageCharizard Inteleon ImageInteleon Chesnaught ImageChesnaught

All Starter Pokemon from Kanto (Generation 1), Kalos (Generation 6), and Galar (Generation 8) can be transferred to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Transfer Hisuian Evolutions of the Starter Pokemon

Hisuian Samurott ImageHisuian Samurott Hisuian Decidueye ImageHisuian Decidueye Hisuian Typhlosion ImageHisuian Typhlosion

The starter Pokemon who have special Hisuian forms can also be transferred into the game! However, the other starters from the same Regions and Generations (2, 5, and 6) still haven't made it in.

Transfer Powerful Legendary Pokemon

Arceus ImageArceus Enamorus (Incarnate Forme) ImageEnamorus (Incarnate Forme) Diancie ImageDiancie

Select legendary Pokemon can also be transferred into the game! The Legendaries chosen seem to mostly be those which were available in other Pokemon games for the Switch and are easy to transfer via Pokemon HOME, though a few like Meloetta and Volcanion can only be obtained via Pokemon Bank or Pokemon GO.

Carbink?

Carbink ImageCarbink

Why is Carbink here? We aren't sure, but some theorize that it could be due to its relationship to Diancie. Although Carbink does not evolve into Diancie, Diancie is said to be born from a Carbink that undergoes a mutation, which could be a reason for its inclusion.

Transferred Pokemon's Moves, Abilities and Tera Types

Moves and Abilities are Reset Upon Transfer to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

Pokemon that have not been moved to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet before will have their Moves and Abilities reset to what they would normally be at that level in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This means any TM'd moves, Ability Capsule or Patch'ed Abilities, or Moves/Abilities not possible in Generation 9 for that Pokemon will be removed.

Once a Pokemon has been in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it's moveset will be stored in Pokemon HOME's memory and reset back to its Ability and moveset it last had in-game when moved back in again.

Imported Pokemon Will Have the Same Tera Type as their Type 1 Regular Type.

Terastal Eevee Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (1).jpeg

Pokemon transferred from an older game to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will have their Tera Typing determined by their Type 1 regular typing.

This is a great way to obtain some high iv or shiny Pokemon with the desired Tera Type that are often difficult to get otherwise, such as Steel Tera Gholdengo! Gimmighoul is a Ghost Type, which means evolving it into Gholdengo will always result in a Ghost Tera Gholdengo.

However bringing an already evolved Gholdengo from Pokemon Go will result in a Steel Tera Type due to Gholdengo being a Steel-Ghost Type!

Note that this will not work with all Pokemon, as some Pokemon such as Steel Tera Scizor, and Flying Tera Dragonite will not be possible due to these being their 2nd typings (Bug-Steel, Dragon-Flying, respectively).

Can we breed the non-Paldean forms using an everstone or destiny knot? Yes it will appear the same for first evolution form but when evolving, can we say turn a stantler bred from wrydeer into another wrydeer using some item?
