This team features several modes that a player can use depending on what team they're up against with Pokemon that can be mixed and matched depending on what the match demands. The team does not rely on any
one strategy, but can allow the player to play reactively.
The user will often have plenty of options during team selection, and many available lines of play over the course of a match.
Nature | Sassy (+Sp.Def, -Spe) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 236 HP / 116 Def / 156 Sp. Def IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 219 HP / 105 Def / 105 Sp. Atk / 132 Sp. Def / 49 Spe |
Ability | Regenerator |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Rocky Helmet |
Moveset | ・
Clear Smog
・ Spore ・ Rage Powder ・ Protect |
Amoonguss' dual-typing and access to Rage Powder makes it great at supporting through redirection in Doubles. Clear Smog is very useful for opposing set up strategies like Dondozo and Tatsugiri.
Spore can be immensely annoying for the opponent, making Amoonguss a hot target. This makes Protect valuable for the set.
Amoonguss Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Jolly (+Spe, -Sp.Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 4 Atk / 4 Def / 108 Sp. Def / 220 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 197 HP / 131 Atk / 101 Def / 108 Sp. Atk / 104 Sp. Def / 157 Spe |
Ability | Intimidate |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Safety Goggles |
Moveset | ・
Flare Blitz
・ Snarl ・ Will-O-Wisp ・ Protect |
Access to Intimidate and natural bulk make Arcanine an excellent support Pokemon. Will-O-Wisp along with Intimidate lets Arcanine effectively neutralize physically offensive threats like Iron Hands and Roaring Moon.
Snarl is great for debuffing offense from specially offensive Pokemon, while Flare Blitz is great for dealing big damage to Fire-weak Pokemon such as Gholdengo and Amoonguss.
Protect is usually used to protect Arcanine from Fake Out and on turns where it is in danger of taking a Hydro Pump from Iron Bundle.
This build makes use of Safety Goggles to protect Arcanine from Spore and Rage Powder, but it can also do that by Terastallizing into Grass, which also removes its weaknesses to Ground and Water.
Arcanine Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Timid (+ Spe, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 4 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 131 HP / 75 Def / 187 Sp. Atk / 155 Sp. Def / 205 Spe |
Ability | Protosynthesis |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Choice Specs |
Moveset | ・
Shadow Ball
・ Moonblast ・ Dazzling Gleam ・ Mystical Fire |
Choice Specs Flutter Mane is incredibly difficult to wall, with very few Pokemon wanting to take super-effective or neutral hits from it. Tera Fairy further boosts the damage of Fairy-type Moves, however this leaves it susceptible to Fake Out and Extreme Speed.
This Pokemon also benefits from the various means of Speed Control in the team, like Iron Bundle's Icy Wind and Roaring Moon's Tailwind, tilting Flutter Mane mirrors in your favor.
Flutter Mane Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Jolly (+Spe, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 84 HP / 164 Atk / 4 Def / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 191 HP / 180 Atk / 92 Def / 122 Sp. Def / 188 Spe |
Ability | Protosynthesis |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Booster Energy |
Moveset | ・
Acrobatics
・ Throat Chop ・ Tailwind ・ Protect |
Acrobatics is Roaring Moon's most damaging move, which can be further boosted with Terastallization.
Throat Chop is a powerful STAB Move, but can also stop opposing Sylveon from using Hyper Voice.
With Murkrow seeing less play, Roaring Moon becomes a perfectly viable Tailwind setter for your team who can also contribute greatly to offense. Protect is best used on turns where Roaring Moon is in danger of getting double targeted. It is also great for stalling turns of Trick Room and Tailwind.
84 HP EVs and 4 EVs in Defense and Special Defense give Roaring Moon some bulk to survive attacks on neutral hit. With a Jolly Nature, a full 252 is put into Speed with only 164 going into Attack.
This ensures that Roaring Moon will always get a Speed boost from Booster Energy and Protosynthesis while still being able to deal meaningful damage.
Roaring Moon Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Timid (+Spe, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 4 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 132 HP / 134 Def / 176 Sp. Atk / 80 Sp. Def / 206 Spe |
Ability | Quark Drive |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Focus Sash |
Moveset | ・
Hydro Pump
・ Freeze-Dry ・ Icy Wind ・ Protect |
Freeze-Dry is Iron Bundle's primary STAB move, which has good accuracy and reasonable damage. It is especially effective for doing 50-70% on most Pokemon, setting them up for KOs by Iron Bundle's teammates. Hydro Pump, with its 20% chance of missing, is still a viable option if you're feeling lucky and need that extra bit of damage.
Iron Bundle is an effective user of Icy Wind because there are few Pokemon that outspeed it. Protect is best used on turns where Iron Bundle is in danger of taking a Fake Out.
This build makes use of Tera Grass as it lets Iron Bundle resist Electric and Grass-type Attacks, which it is sure to be a target of. Tera Grass also makes Iron Bundle immune to the effects of Spore and Rage Powder
A Timid Nature is chosen for this build, as it ensures that Iron Bundle will always be quicker than unboosted Flutter Mane. A full 252 EVs are put into its Special Attack and Speed so that it hits as hard and quick as possible. 4 EVs are put into HP to give it a little bit of bulk.
Iron Bundle Movesets and Best Builds
Nature | Adamant (+Atk, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 140 HP / 252 Atk / 116 Sp. Def |
Final Stat Values | 247 HP / 211 Atk / 128 Def / 103 Sp. Def / 70 Spe |
Ability | Quark Drive |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Assault Vest |
Moveset | ・
Wild Charge
・ Drain Punch ・ Stomping Tantrum ・ Fake Out |
Wild Charge is its most damaging STAB Move, but deals recoil damage when you use it. Drain Punch gives Iron Hands incremental recovery. Stomping Tantrum is useful against other Iron Hands and against Tera Fire Gastrodon, as well as the occasional Iron Moth. Fake Out is an important Move in any Iron Hands build as it can force protects or break Focus Sashes.
This build makes use of Tera Grass as it lets Iron Hands resist Ground-type Attacks, which it is sure to be a target of. Tera Grass also makes Iron Hands immune to the effects of Spore and Rage Powder
140 HP and 116 Special Defense with Assault Vest gives Iron Hands enough Special bulk to withstand powerful super-effective Moves like Flutter Mane's Moonblast, Sylveon's Hyper Voice, or Armarouge's Psyshock. A full 252 is put into its Attack stat to ensure that Iron Hands hits as hard as possible.
Iron Hands Movesets and Best Builds
This Balanced Team falls under the 'Good Stuff' category, making use of very basic yet effective Pokemon with natural synergy with each other. It does not rely on any particular gimmick, and affords the player chances to play reactively.
This team also makes great use of Paradox Pokemon who are newly introduced into Ranked Battles in Series 2.
Amoonguss and Arcanine are excellent support Pokemon who can help these Paradox Pokemon shine.
Flutter Mane Tera Type: |
Roaring Moon Tera Type: |
Flutter Mane and Roaring Moon can Terastallize offensively to give their moves an extra boost. While this is used as a means to boost their offense, it is an added advantage that Flutter Mane and Roaring Moon both lose the weaknesses of their secondary types.
Amoonguss Tera Type: |
Arcanine Tera Type: |
Iron Bundle Tera Type: |
Iron Hands Tera Type: |
Amoonguss, Arcanine, Iron Bundle, and Iron Hands all have defensive Tera Types which they can use to shed weaknesses in a pinch. Be careful though, because three of these Pokemon all share the same Grass Tera Types.
Gastrodon (West Sea) Tera Type: |
Armarouge Tera Type: |
Iron Moth Tera Type: |
Tera Fire Gastrodon gives our team a tough time, with our ony out against it being Iron Hands' Stomping Tantrum. Besides that, we can only try to hit it for neutral hits.
Armarouge and its partners (usually Indeedee-F) are also wildly unpredictable, making it very difficult to go up against.
Dondozo is also difficult to beat as the team can only use Amoonguss' Clear Smog to get rid of its stat buffs.
Additionally, Trick Room altogether is a tricky matchup, with the team having few ways to play around it.
