Shell Bell |
This Magnezone build is specialized to counter Flying-type Pokemon in Tera Raids.
The best Ability for Magnezone is Analytic, which increases the power of its next move by 30% if it moves last on the turn and gives it a significant power boost on its attacks.
This Tera Raid build has Electric Tera Type to further boost the power of its Electric-type moves. As a special attacker, a Quiet Nature is best to ensure that it hits as hard as possible with its special attacks while also making it slow to get the boost from Analytic.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards bulky offense. Max out your HP and Special Attack to give it as much bulk and special offense as possible while adding the remaining EVs into Defense.
Giving Magnezone Shell Bell ensures that it can recover HP while dealing damage.
Magnezone Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1~3 | Use Charge Beam to generate Tera Orb charge. Note: Even if Magnezone faints, it will retain its Tera Orb charge after reviving. |
Turns 3~5 | Use Metal Sound three times to lower the raid boss' Special Defense by 6 stages. Note: Make sure to use Metal Sound after the raid boss resets all stat changes. |
Turn 6 | Use Rain Dance to give Thunder perfect accuracy on the next turn. |
Turn 7 | Terastallize into an Electric-type and use Thunder to damage the raid Pokemon's shield and finish the battle. |
Start the Tera Raid by using Charge Beam to damage the raid Pokemon and generate Tera Orb Charge. This move also has a 70% chance to increase Magnezone's Special Attack by one stage. If Magnezone faints, it will retain its charges once it revives.
Once the raid boss resets all stat changes, use Metal Sound three times to lower its Special Defense by 6 stages.
When you have enough Tera Orb charge to terastallize, use Rain Dance to ensure Magnezone's Thunder gets perfect accuracy on the next turn. Then, terastallize into an Electric-type and use Thunder to damage the raid Pokemon's shield and finish the battle.
Super Effective (2x) |
|
---|---|
Not Very Effective (x0.5) | |
No Effect (x0) |
This Electric Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to Flying and Water Type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss is usually a Ground Type outside of Terastallization, perhaps consider a different build, as Magnezone will be weak to these Types as an Electric Type attacker.

Electric Seed |
This is a Magnezone build that makes it play a role of support to one-shot the raid bosses.
For this strategy, Magnezone will be teaming up with Miraidon to lower the raid boss' Special Defense stat with Metal Soundand boost Miraidon's damage output with Helping Hand.
This will allow Miraidon to one-shot Flying-type raid Pokemon with Electro Drift, thanks to the stat drops from Metal Sound and the damage boost from Helping Hand.
Magnezone is built defensively for this build, with its EV spread invested in HP and Defense and its Nature Bold to make it as tanky as possible against Decidueye.
You can also let it hold an Electric Seed to boost its Defense stat even more. The item will be consumed with Miraidon's Hadron Engine spawning Electric Terrain on the field at the start of the raid.
Miraidon OHKO Counter Strategy | ||
---|---|---|
Turns | Support Magnezone Electric Seed |
Charge Miraidon Life Orb |
#1 | Metal Sound | Metal Sound |
#2 | Metal Sound | Charge |
#3 | Helping Hand | Electro Drift |
Assuming that the raid boss will not use any form of debilitating status move on its free turn, the general idea is to lower its Special Defense stat by 6 stages, and one shot it on the third turn.
Magnezone should use Metal Sound on the first two turns to drop the raid Pokemon's Special Defense. Miraidon on the other hand will also be using Metal Sound along with Charge to boost its own attack.
By turn 3, Magnezone should now use Helping Hand before Miraidon attacks with Electro Drift.

We recommend getting a Magnezone with a Steel Tera Type since it will improve the power of it Steel-type Flash Cannon attack. As an Attacker with a focus on Special Moves, a Modest nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards a Special based attacker that can use either Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, or Steel Beam to deal massive damage. As such, Max out your Sp. Attack and HP EVs while adding the remaining EVs into Defense. Equip the Pokemon with Wise Glasses to boost the power of its special moves.
