Should You Choose Fuecoco as a Starter?

Yes, Choose Fuecoco for Great Offense and Defense

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV Fuecoco

Fuecoco is the best starter for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet because of its Fire-typing since Fire-types are generally rarer than other types and having one in your team from the beginning of the game is always ideal for type coverage.

Fuecoco also gives you type advantage over Pokemon that have fewer weaknesses such as Steel. It also resists Fairy-type unlike the other starter types. Fire is super effective against 4 types while also resisting 6 other types.

Best Starter Pokemon: Which Starter To Choose

Roy's Partner in Pokemon Horizons: The Series

Pokemon SV - Roy and Fuecoco

Roy, one of the main characters of Pokemon Horizons: The Series encounters and befriends a Fuecoco who eventually becomes his partner.

Fuecoco in the anime is shown to sing when they are happy, which is a reference to how its evolution, Skeledirge, eventually learns Torch Song as its signature move.

Gen 9 Starters

Fuecoco is the Fire-type starter Pokemon given to the trainer by Director Clavell at the beginning of the game. Choosing it means you will have to find alternative ways to get your hands on the other starter Pokemon.

Best Starter Pokemon: Which Starter To Choose

Only available via trade after start

After selecting your starter Pokemon, you will not be able to obtain the other two starters without the help of a trade. Since Starter Pokemon are high demand for trades, be sure to choose your favorite one initially!

Best Teammates for Fuecoco

Good Pokemon to Team with Fuecoco
Shinx ImageShinx Magikarp ImageMagikarp Paldean Wooper ImagePaldean Wooper

Best Team

The Electric Shinx Complements Move Type

Shinx is great against Water-type Pokemon which Fuecoco is weak against. It also has the Ability Intimidate which lowers an opposing Pokemon's Attack stat.

Shinx can be found in the South Province (Area Two) near the start, so it is an easy to catch and useful teammate to have.

Magikarp is Extremely Useful After Evolving

After evolving into Gyarados, this Pokemon will become indispensable for taking out Rock-type Pokemon that Fuecoco is weak to. Catch one in the South Province (Area Two) near the start and keep it in your party to level it up until evolution!

Paldean Wooper Is Durable and Learns Powerful Support Moves

Paldean Wooper evolves at level 20, is very hard to take out, and can learn support moves such as Yawn, making it very useful for taking down Gym Leaders. Wooper can also be found in the South Province (Area Two).
