The Box Legendaries and Treasures of Ruin were all permitted for the first time! As such, the teams listed below all take that into account to give the best possible teams for the ongoing Paldea Prologue Competition. The Treasure of Ruins Teams will also be permitted in Series 3 of Ranked Battle which will follow the new Regulation C Standard.
Ranked Battle Series 3 (Regulation C): Rules and Banned Pokemon
Koraidon has natural synergy with both Talonflame and Great Tusk. Orichalcum Pulse can trigger Great Tusk's Protosynthesis, and it can also boost Talonflame's Fire-type attacks.
Azumarill is in this team composition as a Priority Move user with its Aqua Jet and it can also break walls after a successful Belly Drum. Amoonguss and Arcanine round out the team as an effective support duo.

---|---|---|---|---|---|
Miraidon can trigger Iron Hands' Quark Drive and give it an Attack boost. This will make it incredibly difficult to wall. Iron Bundle also benefits from Miraidon setting up Electric Terrain with Hadron Engine as it can get a Speed boost and be the fastest Pokemon on the field. Iron Bundle with a Speed boost and Choice Specs-boosted Ice-type attacks will also be difficult to stop.
Miraidon's Hadron Engine can also remove Psychic Terrain upon switch-in (Indeedee-F will always be slower than Miraidon), and can enable Dragonite's Extreme Speed.
Amoonguss and Arcanine round out the team as an effective support duo.
Miraidon Team Detailed Build Breakdowns | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
This team counters Koraidon by turning the weather war in your favor with Rain. Pelipper is naturally slower than Koraidon, and can also switch in during a match to overwrite weather. Palafin thrives in Rain as it can dish out immense damage with Rain-boosted Wave Crashes and Jet Punches.
Raichu can protect its Electric-weak teammates with its Lightning Rod Ability, and it can also offer Speed Control by paralyzing foes with Nuzzle. Great Tusk and Flutter Mane can punish Sun by taking boosts for themselves through their own Protosynthesis.
How to Build a Weather Team
This team composition matches up against Miraidon teams, as Indeedee-F can overwrite Miradon's Electric Terrain with its own Psychic Terrain with Psychic Surge. Iron Bundle can start off the match and use Flip Turn on Armarouge to trigger its Weakness Policy. It can then switch to Indeedee-F to set up Psychic Terrain while Armarouge attacks with boosted Expanding Force.
Farigiraf and Iron Hands can also be a reliable, bulky duo for setting up Trick Room. Torkoal is one of the best Trick Room attackers who can repeatedly use Eruption to take out huge chunks of HP even on resisted hits.
Doubles Team Building: Trick Room Cores, Indeedee-Armarouge Core, and More
Chi-Yu has natural synergy with both Torkoal and Flutter Mane. It can use Sun-boosted Heat Waves when paired with Torkoal, and Flutter Mane can spam Dazzling Gleam when next to Chi-Yu.
Murkrow can manually set up Sun when anticipating a Pelipper switch-in. Lilligant, Torkoal's usual partner, can put opponents to sleep with Sleep Powder.
Lastly, Wash Rotom with a Fire Tera Type can benefit from the sun, giving it incredible coverage in Electric, Water, and Fire.
Chi-Yu Movesets and Best Builds
Pincurchin can trigger Iron Bundle's Quark Drive and make it the quickest Pokemon on the field. Once it is indeed the quickest, it becomes an even better user of Specs-boosted Icy Wind, lowering the opposing side's Speed Stat. Iron Bundle can also threaten with powerful Freeze-Drys and Hydro Pumps even without a Speed boost.
Chien-Pao pairs nicely with Dragonite, as it can reduce Defense stats with Sword of Ruin, while Dragonite uses Tera Normal Extreme Speed. Chien-Pao also has access to Ice Spinner which can remove Psychic Terrain which halts Priority Moves like Dragonite's Extreme Speed.
Amoonguss and Arcanine round out the team as an effective support duo.
Chien-Pao Movesets and Best Builds
Ting-Lu and Arcanine make for an incredibly defensive pair to lead off with, with the pair being able to reduce both offensive stats with their Abilities. Amoonguss is a great switch-in for Ting-Lu, resisting most of its weaknesses. Annihilape benefits from Ting-Lu and Arcanine's offensive debuffs, giving it more durability to take hits and power up Rage Fist.
Garganacl is well suited in defensive teams as it can be difficult to KO thanks to Ting-Lu's Ability.
Amoonguss offers redirection, and Gyarados works as a secondary Intimidate user.
Additionally, Ting-Lu matches up favorably against common Defiant Pokemon like Kingambit and Annihilape, being able to resist their Dark-and Ghost-type attacks, and can Tera Poison to protect itself from Fighting-type Moves.
Lastly, Arcanine and Amoonguss make another appearance as a solid support duo.
Ting-Lu Movesets and Best Builds
Wo-Chien's Tablets of Ruin Ability means that it would usually be restricted to special-oriented team compositions to avoid the Attack drop. However, this Attack drop can also benefit Wo-Chien and its team, by making it and its partner even more difficult to KO.
Garganacl is a great partner since its defensive tools and stats benefit greatly from Tablets of Ruin. It is also well suited in defensive teams as it can be difficult to KO thanks to Wo-Chien's Ability.
Gothitelle can trap debuffed Pokemon (who are preferably Salt Cured and Leech Seeded) and stall them out with Fake Out and Protect, while Gholdengo is a good late-game attacker with plenty of resistances. Gholdengo also matches up favorably against Fairy-types who would want to go up against Wo-Chien.
Wo-Chien Movesets and Best Builds
This team makes use of double Fairy-types to match up against the Treasures of Ruin. Azumarill's Play Rough, and Flutter Mane's Dazzling Gleam or Moonblast can hit three out of the four Treasures of Ruin for super-effective damage. Azumarill's Aqua Jet and Palafin's Jet Punch can make quick work of Chi-Yu.
Talonflame can set up Tailwind for Great Tusk and Gholdengo, allowing both to enjoy a speed boost as they click their Spread Moves.
Another team that could be fun in the Paldea Prologue Online Competition is this team that makes use of Speed Boosting Sandy Shocks to quickly use Gravity while Espathra puts everything to sleep with Hypnosis.
Iron Bundle can enjoy using accurate Blizzards, or if Gravity isn't in effect, Abomasnow's Snow Warning can also improve Blizzard's accuracy.
Flutter Mane is always a welcome addition to teams, being an offensive threat that demands to be addressed, while Garganacl can be a late-game win condition, especially after the opposing team has run out of offensive options.
