Sitrus Berry |
Acrobatics doubles its damage after eating Sitrus Berry. Typing resists Grass and Fighting attacks. Flame Body can inflict burn, reducing H-Decidueye's damage. |
The best ability for Talonflame in Tera Raid Battles is Flame Body. This allows for contact moves used by the Raid Boss to burn them and reduce the damage of their physical attacks.
We also recommend getting a Talonflame with a Flying Tera Type because it keeps it Grass and Fighting resistances, while also boosting the damage of Acrobatics. As a Physical Attacker, an Adamant nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards Attack and Defense. Max out your Atk and Def EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into HP. Give it a Sitrus Berry to heal back its HP at low health and to double the base damage of Acrobatics.
Talonflame Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1 | Use Taunt to prevent the Raid Boss from using buffs. |
Turns 2~3 | Use Bulk Up after your stat buffs are reset to increase Talonflame's Attack and Defense. |
Turns 4~7 | Use Bulk Up until Talonflame has +6 Attack and Defense. |
Turns 8+ | Use Acrobatics until the Raid Boss is defeated. When your Tera Orb charges are full, make sure to Terastallize to Flying. |
Low HP Turns | Use Roost to restore HP. |
Start the battle by using Taunt, so that the Raid Boss can't use buffs the following turn. After the Raid Boss resets stat buffs on your side, use Bulk Up twice to increase your Attack and Defense.
Before the Raid Boss puts up its shield, the initial Taunt should expire allowing you to use Taunt once more to prevent it from using Swords Dance. Once its shield is up, continue to use Bulk Up until Talonflame has +6 Attack and Defense.
Once you have fully setup, use Acrobatics three times until your Tera Orb charges are full. When it is full, Terastallize to Flying and continue to use Acrobatics until Hisuain Decidueye is defeated.
Remember to use Roost whenever Talonflame is at low HP so that it doesn't get knocked out by a random critical hit.

This Talonflame Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to Grass, Fighting, and Bug Type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss is usually a Water, Electric or Rock Type outside of Terastallization, perhaps consider a different build, as Talonflame will be weak to these Types as a Flying-Type attacker.

Make sure to bring a Pokemon that has False Swipe and can inflict a status effect to make it easier to catch.
If the Talonflame build you are following requires it to have a different Tera type, you will need to have 50 Tera Shards of the type you need, and bring it to Medali to have your Pokemon's Tera Type changed.
