What are Natures?

Singles Movesets for Toxtricity

Focus Sash Moveset & Best Build

Focus Sash Toxtricity.png

Nature Timid (Speed ↑ Attack ↓)
EV Spread HP 4 / Sp. Atk 252 / Spd 252
Final Stat Values HP 151 / Def. 90 / Sp.Atk. 166 / Sp.Def. 90 / Spd. 139
Ability Punk Rock
Held Item Focus Sash
Moveset Overdrive
Sludge Bomb
Taunt
Nuzzle

Focus Sash will allow Toxtricity to endure an opponent's attack, while simultaneously inflicting Paralysis with Nuzzle, then tacking on damage with Overdrive.

The ability Punk Rock increases the attack of Overdrive, so if you can endure an opponent's move, you can usually turn the tables on it.

Other Viable Moves

Volt Switch Useful for switching out. When the opportunity presents itself, swap out with this move to escape danger after inflicting damage to the opponent.
Sludge Wave Can be chosen over Sludge Bomb. It is more powerful than Sludge Bomb, but the poisonous effects are weaker.
Taunt Useful for stoping your opponent from setting up hazards or switching their Pokemon out.

Assault Vest Moveset & Best Build

Assault Vest Toxtricity.png

Nature Modest (Special Attack ↑ Attack ↓)
EV Spread HP 244, Def. 20, Atk. 204, Sp. Def. 36, Spd. 4
Final Stat Values HP 181 / Def. 93 / Sp.Atk. 176 / Sp.Def. 95 / Spd. 96
Ability Punk Rock
Held Item Assault Vest
Moveset Overdrive
Hex
Boomburst
Nuzzle

With a 1.5x increase in Sp. Defense thanks to the effects of Assault Vest, Toxtricity will be very useful against special attackers. This makes it an effective counter for the popular Pokemon Sylveon and Wash Rotom, so if you struggle against these Pokemon, we recommend adding Toxtricity to your team.

Regarding physical defense, Toxtricity will be able to endure Mimikyu's Swords Dance -> Shadow Claw combo, and if Dynamaxed, he can also endure Gyarados's Earthquake. With its high Special Defense, it can successfully endure a 252 Sp. Atk. Wash Rotom's Hydro Pump three times.

Other Viable Moves

Sludge Bomb A strong STAB move to counter Grass and Fairy-type Pokemon.
Volt Switch A STAB move that can be used to get out of a disadvantage. Will inflict damage as well in addition to the utility it brings.
Snarl Strong move that lowers the opponent's Special Attack stat. Pairs well with Punk Rock as it allows Toxicrity to deal more damage.

How to Use Toxtricity Effectively

A powerful attacker with the unique ability Punk Rock

Toxtricity is a Pokemon who, thanks to its signature ability Punk Rock, can dish out damage above its base Sp. Atk. of 114. However, its mediocre Speed stat means that it will need help from Assault Vest for additional protection or Choice Scarf to compensate for the stat.

Excellent for countering Fairy-types

As a powerful Poison-type, Toxtricity is one of the best counters for Fairy-type Pokemon. Its weakness comes from Psychic and Ground types, but other than them, Toxtricity is able to hold its own in many matchups.

How to Build a Team with Toxtricity

We recommend using Dark and Flying-type Pokemon to counteract Toxtricity's weakness to Ground and and Psychic-type Pokemon.

Counter with a Ground-type

Both of Toxtricity's types are useless on Ground-types. In addition, it has a 4x weakness to Ground-type moves. Therefore, bring out a Ground-type to become fully immune to its Electric attacks and resist Poison-attacks while dealing heavy damage.

The second setup listed for Tox with Assault Vest here has a few errors. In the EV spread box, It should say Special Attack should be given EV points, not Attack. And in the Final Stat Values, Attack is not listed. I believe where it says Special Attack in that box, it’s actually physical Attack that’s only 174 (I think?) Those parts should be corrected, else you’ll have a Toxicitry with a higher Attack than SpAtk, and that would be wasteful considering the nature that was picked for this mon.
