Iron Bundle has an amazing Speed stat and near perfect STAB coverage that allows it to outspeed and threaten a lot of Pokemon in the current metagame.
Very high Speed and Special Attack. Near perfect coverage with Hydro Pump and Freeze-Dry.
|
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Quark Drive | Booster Energy |
Quark Drive is Iron Bundle's only Ability which increases its highest stat by 30% when Electric Terrain is up or when holding a Booster Energy. If Iron Bundle's Speed stat is the highest, it's increased by 50% instead.
Because of its ability Quark Drive, Iron Bundle is equipped with a Booster Energy to further increase its Speed by 50%.
Hydro Pump | Freeze-Dry |
Encore | Flip Turn |
Hydro Pump is its strongest Water-type STAB move. Any Pokemon with residual damage will be threatened to get knocked out by Iron Bundle's Tera Water Hydro Pump.
Freeze-Dry is Iron Bundle's main Ice-type STAB move. Water-types do not resist this move and are instead hit for super effective damage.
Encore allows for Iron Bundle to lock Pokemon into using the same move over and over again. This is useful against Pokemon that use hazard or setup moves.
Flip Turn lets Iron Bundle switch out of battle while still doing some chip damage. This is great since, with Iron Bundle's Speed, it can switch out first to a different Pokemon before the opponents turn.

Water is the best Tera Type for Iron Bundle since it boosts Hydro Pump's damage, while also being a good defensive typing.
Alternatively, it could use a Stellar Tera Type to boost the damage of both of its STAB moves without having to commit to a single Tera Type.
Best Water (Tera) Type Pokemon for Ranked Battle
A full 252 EV investment in Special Attack and Speed allows Iron Bundle to hit as hard and as fast as possible, while the remaining 4 EVs are placed in Defense to round off its bulk.
Ice Beam | A stronger Ice-type attack, at the cost of Water-type Pokemon resisting it. |

Hydro Pump
・ Taunt ・ Freeze-Dry ・ Flip Turn |
Iron Bundle is a Pokemon that can hit hard and fast, with a 136 base Speed stat which is only rivalled by Electrode and Dragapult. Although Iron Bundle does not get a very wide ranging move pool, the combination of Ice Beam, Hydro Pump and Freeze-Dry is able to hit every Pokemon in the game for at least neutral damage. Taunt is great with Iron Bundle's high Speed, being able to shut down Pokemon who would want to set up their stats or set up Trick Room.
Although this build puts a lot of emphasis on the Special Attack and Speed, Iron Bundle also has a decent Defense stat. Even without any EV investment in HP or Defense, Iron Bundle is able to withstand a Mach Punch from a Breloom with the Technician Ability.

Moveset | ・
Freeze-Dry
・ Hydro Pump ・ Icy Wind ・ Flip Turn |
Incredibly high Speed and really good Special Attack. Has access to Speed Control via Icy Wind. Standard movepool is consistent and reliable. |
As with all Future Paradox Pokemon, Iron Bundle has Quark Drive. But even without ways to trigger it, it is still an effective Pokemon on its own. Choice Specs works well for this build, as it can get a Speed boost from Miraidon's Hadron Engine. Choice Specs will allow Iron Bundle to be specially offensive, even with just Icy Wind.
Freeze-Dry is Iron Bundle's primary STAB move, which has good accuracy and reasonable damage. It is especially effective for doing 50-70% on most Pokemon, setting them up for KOs by Iron Bundle's teammates. Hydro Pump, with its 20% chance of missing, is still a viable option if you're feeling lucky and need that extra bit of damage.
Iron Bundle is an effective user of Icy Wind because there are few Pokemon that outspeed it. Flip Turn allows Iron Bundle to pivot out of the active position.
This build makes use of Tera Ice to give Iron Bundle even more offensive power on its Ice Moves when it Terastallizes.
A Timid Nature is chosen for this build, as it ensures that Iron Bundle will always be quicker than unboosted Flutter Mane. A full 252 EVs are put into its Special Attack and Speed so that it hits as hard and quick as possible. 4 EVs are put into HP to give it a little bit of bulk.
Taunt | Fast, non-Priority Taunt is useful against Trick Room setters who usually have protection from Priority Moves. |
---|---|
Encore | Locks the opposing Pokemon in to a move it may not want to use. Particularly great for punishing Protects. |

Moveset | ・
Icy Wind
・ Freeze-Dry ・ Hydro Pump ・ Protect |
Incredibly high Speed and really good Special Attack. Has access to Speed Control via Icy Wind. Can shut down set up Pokemon or punish Fake Out and Protect with Encore. |
As with all Future Paradox Pokemon, Iron Bundle has Quark Drive. But even without ways to trigger it, it is still an effective Pokemon on its own. Booster Energy is its best item, as it allows Iron Bundle to always be the fastest Pokemon on the field.
Freeze-Dry is Iron Bundle's primary STAB move, which has good accuracy and reasonable damage. It is especially effective for doing 50-70% on most Pokemon, setting them up for KOs by Iron Bundle's teammates. Iron Bundle is an effective user of Icy Wind because there are few Pokemon that outspeed it.
Hydro Pump is a powerful STAB option, but may sometimes prove unreliable because of its accuracy.
This build makes use of Tera Ghost to give Iron Bundle an immunity to Fake Out when it is necessary for it to attack.
A Timid Nature is chosen for this build, as it ensures that Iron Bundle will always be the quickest Pokemon on the field, and so that its Booster Energy will always give it a Speed boost. 4 EVs are put into HP to give it a little bit of bulk.
Encore | Encore can punish passive plays like Protect, or punish Pokemon with Fake Out by locking them into it. |
---|
If Iron Bundle is against a Pokemon with a Substitue, Focus Sash or Ability that prevents it from being one shot, like Mimikyu, it can use Flip Turn to break the disguise etc, and safely switch out to another Pokemon.
By Terastallizing into a Water Type, Iron Bundle is able to get an even further power boost, allowing it to OHKO Pokemon it could not previously such as Hippowdon.
Paradox Pokemon Builds for Competitive Battles and Tera Raids
Special Sweeper | Setup Sweeper | Mixed Utility and Attacker |
---|---|---|
Iron Bundle | Dragonite | Gholdengo |
Iron Bundle works well in a team that has a backup Physical Attacker, as well as a Pokemon with some bulk to make up for Iron Bundle's frailness.
Electric Terrain Setter and Attacker | Special Sweeper | Defensive Pivot |
---|---|---|
Miraidon | Iron Bundle | Iron Treads |
Another strategy is to team Iron Bundle with an Electric Terrain Team to take advantage of its Quark Drive Ability
Special Attacker | Support |
---|---|
Miraidon | Iron Bundle |
Physical Attacker | Support / Physical Attacker |
Dragonite | Chien-Pao |
In Regulation G, Miraidon can trigger Iron Bundle's Quark Drive by setting up Electric Terrain. Iron Bundle can then lower the opposing team's Speed with Icy Wind.
Having a means to control Terrain is also valuable, as it can help Dragonite use Extreme Speed by countering opposing Psychic Terrain.
Chien-Pao can help Dragonite deal even more damage with its Sword of Ruin Ability.

Air Cutter does not have a flinch chance. It has increased crit chance. Still, I think it's a good gimmick move and can catch people by surprise and take down some fighting types Hydro Pump and Freeze Dry won't be able to take. I run Air Cutter, Freeze Dry, Hydro Pump and Taunt. Works surprisingly well.
