This is build is designed to counter Ground Tera Pokemon in Tera Raids. The best ability for Orthworm in Tera Raid Batltes is Earth Water, which gives it immunity to Ground-type moves and instead heals it.
We also recommend getting an Orthworm with Ground Tera Type to retain its great resistancees while also boosting the power of its Ground-type moves.
Since this Orthworm is a physical attacker, an Adamant Nature is best to boost its physical attacks.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards making Garchomp a stronger physical attacker so it can provide heavier damage. Max out your Attack and HP EVs , while adding the remaining EVs into Defense to round off its bulk. Giving it a Shell Bell ensures that it recovers HP when it attacks.
Orthworm Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1 | Use Coil to boost Orthworm's attack and accuracy |
Turns 2~4 | Use Iron Defense to boost Orthworm's physical defense. |
Turns 5+ | Use Iron Head or Earthquake to deal boosted damage to Garchomp. |
Orthworm being a Steel type gives it plenty of resistanc3s. Its Earth Eater Ability gives it an immunity to Ground, which even heals it. This Coil set can match up well against any other Tera Ground Pokemon that does not resist Steel and Ground.

This Orthworm Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to Ground, Grass and Fairy Type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss is usually a Fire, Water or Steel Type outside of Terastallization, perhaps consider a different build, as Orthworm will be weak to these Types as a Steel Type attacker.
