Shiny Applin Tree Farming Guide

Applin Tree Farming Method

No. Steps
1
Go to Tagtree Thicket, and find the tree with an Applin hanging from its branch.
2
If you haven't already, make a Sparkling Power: Dragon Sandwich. Save before you make it, so you don't waste your ingredients if Shiny Applin doesn't appear.
3
Get on your ride Pokemon, and dash into Applin's tree.
4
Move back, watch the Applin fall, then send out your Pokemon to knock out the fallen Applin via Let's Go.
5
Stay back; don't do anything. Watch as another Applin spawns in, falls from the tree, and gets knocked out by your Pokemon. This cycle should repeat until a Shiny Applin appears.
6
Once a Shiny spawns in, your Pokemon won't be willing to fight it. If it's still on the tree branch, dash into the tree to knock it down. Encounter Shiny Applin, and catch it with your Poke Ball of choice!

Applin Tree Location in Tagtree Thicket

Applin Tree in Tagtree Thicket

Applin can be found in a couple of locations, but this method of shiny hunting has only been proven to work in Tagtree Thicket. Applin can be found in a tree near the entrance of Team Star's Poison Crew base.

Required Pokemon for This Method

Ride Pokemon with Dash Ability

In order to knock down Applin from its tree, you need to be able to dash into it with your ride Pokemon. To unlock the dash ability, you must defeat the Stony Cliff Titan in the Path of Legends storyline.

Large Pokemon to Knock Out Applin

For this method to work, you need to knock out Applin with a large Pokemon using the Let's Go feature. This will allow Applin to cycle in and fall from the tree by itself.

The best Pokemon to use for this is the extra ride Pokemon you can catch in the game. However, if you haven't caught this Pokemon or have not finished the story yet, you can use another large Pokemon that is able to knock Applin down from the tree like Charizard.

These are Sparkling Power Lv. 3 Recipes that we recommend for hunting Shiny Applin

Make use of items like the Shiny Charm or a Sparkling Power Sandwich to further increase your odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon.

You can boost the Sparkling Power of either Grass or Dragon in order to shiny hunt Applin. If you don't want to be distracted by the other Grass-types in the area, you may want to boost Dragon since Applin is the only Dragon-type nearby.

Shiny Applin Catching Tips

Hopefully, after following the steps above, you've found a Shiny Applin. Great! Here are a few tips before you start the encounter:

  1. Save Before the Encounter
  2. Lower its HP
  3. Consider a Matching Poke Ball

Save Before The Encounter

Before anything else, save your game! You're probably really excited to grab the Shiny Applin right away, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Doing a manual save is a good safety precaution for anything that might go wrong. It'll save you from any potential agony from the encounter despawning, game crashes, running out of Poke Balls, or accidental KOs.

Lower Shiny Applin's HP

Best Catcher Pokemon
Hisuian Decidueye ImageHisuian Decidueye ・Is able to use False Swipe against Ghost-types thanks to Scrappy
・Can use Taunt to prevent status moves.

Since Applin isn't a Ghost-type, you don't necessarily have to use Hisuian Decidueye. Any False Swipe user will do, but it's still a good idea to have this Pokemon around.

Best Ball to Catch Shiny Applin In

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Friend BallFriend Ball Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Nest BallNest Ball Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Luxury BallLuxury Ball

While you could catch Shiny Applin in any Poke Ball you prefer, there's a pretty fun tradition of selecting a Poke Ball that thematically matches the Shiny Pokemon you'll catch.

The Friend Ball and the Nest Ball are excellent choices to match Shiny Applin's green color palette. The Luxury Ball is best used if you plan on evolving your Shiny Applin into Dipplin, since that Pokemon is gold in color.
