Grinding Tera Raids is Inefficient

Random Tera Raid Battle - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

When you want a specific Tera Type with a Pokemon that you want, there are three ways you can get it:

  • Change your Pokemon's Tera Type with Tera Shards.
  • Grind for the Tera Pokemon you want by fighting in Tera Raid Battles.
  • Fight and catch Tera Pokemon in the wild.

The problem with the first option is that it takes 50 Tera Shards to change a Pokemon's Tera Type. That's on top of needing those shards to correspond with the Tera Type you want for your Pokemon. This will lead to grinding Tera Raid Battles just to get the type of shards you need.

As for grinding raids for the Tera Pokemon you want, you might have a hard time finding it. This is because you wouldn't know which Pokemon you're dealing with before entering a Tera Raid; you'll just know which Tera Type it has.

Know the Location of Specific Wild Tera Pokemon

Finding a Tera Diglett in the Wild - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

This brings us to the third option: Fighting Tera Pokemon that are in the wild. These Pokemon don't have dedicated Tera Raids, and are found like any other Pokemon while exploring Paldea.

We have a list of all locations of wild Tera Pokemon in Paldea, which should give you an idea of where to catch the Pokemon with the Tera Type you want.
