Kieran's New Appearance (The Indigo Disk)

Pokemon SV - ID DLC Kieran
As teased in previous trailers and at the end of the Teal Mask DLC, it was revealed that Kieran will make his return in the Indigo Disk DLC with a whole new appearance to show that he has grown stronger and will no longer lose to you in battle.

His shift in style signifies that he is no longer this meek young boy and that he is now a powerful Pokemon Trainer that everyone should fear. This could also mean that he has now become the Champion of the BB League in order to prove that he is the best of the best.

As revealed in the trailer, it looks like players will have to battle him and his team at some point in the DLC's storyline to prove who is the strongest trainer.

Tips for Beating Champion Kieran:
Lead with a Fairy-type!

Champion Kieran uses strong Pokemon and Double Battle tactics that won't look out of place from actual competitive battlles between players. Fortunately, 3 of his most threatening Pokemon are weak to Fairy-type moves which means it's possible to take them all out before they can set up!

A Modest natured Flutter Mane holding a Booster Energy and partnered with any Pokemon that can use Helping Hand such as Clefairy or Vaporeon can easily take out Dragonite with Moonblast even with Multiscale factored in!

With this set up, it's possible to easily take out Dragonite and Grimmsnarl, and Hydrapple later on even when he terastallizes it into a Fighting-type!

Tips for Beating Pokemon Trainer Kieran:
Use a Steel-type!

The Terapagos Kieran uses in this fight is relatively weak for a Level 85 Pokemon, much to his frustration. Although Terapagos is a Normal-type, we recommend using a Steel-type Pokemon during this fight.

Gholdengo is a great Steel-type Pokemon to use against this fight since it can learn Focus Blast, which deals super effective damage against Terapagos.

The reason we're using a Steel-type for this fight is that you'll jump straight to a more difficult fight against Stellar Form Terapagos after you beat Kieran and you'll have an easier time defeating that boss if you lead with a Steel-type!

Tips for Beating Kieran (Third Battle):
Use Electric-Type Pokemon or a Flying Type in Post-Game

Kieran finally obtains his Ace, Dipplin! For this battle, you can keep using Electric Types but a Flying type like Kilowattrel would be amazing especially for Post-Game fights to add coverage for his Dipplin. You can also train up a Swinub if you wish for a quad effective damage against Dipplin.

Tips for Beating Kieran (Fourth Battle):
Use Arctibax or Another Ice Type!

Forgoing his Furret, Kieran now means business with this team. Arctibax can easily take care of all his team members if you want to sweep. With its access to Frost Breath and decent bulk, you can easily go through members of his team!

You can also keep using the Kilowattrel or the Piloswine from the previous fight if you don't want to train up another Party member.

Tips for Beating Kieran (Fifth Battle):
Use Ice Types!

Kiddie gloves are off for this Blueberry Academy trainer! With a full party of Pokemon that are holding items in the Post-Game, this fight could prove difficult if you are not prepared! Luckily, 4 out of 6 of his Pokemon are weak to Ice types! Be careful, however, as his Probopass and Poliwrath could be trouble if he switches them out!

If you want some pretty good items for your future adventure in Blueberry Academy, you can put Thief on all your Pokemon to get his Held Items! This is the only way to get a Kee Berry outside of Ogre Oustin'!

Kieran's Story Role

The Teal Mask Storyline

Pokemon SV - Kieran Friendship
Kieran is one of your main companions during the Teal Mask Storyline. While he initially comes off as a bit demure, he seems to be quite interested in the player and slowly warms up to us as the story progresses.

While he initially serves as your partner through your journey in Kitakami, he also seems to have a bit of an issue involving how everything comes easily to the player eventually becoming cold and antagonistic instead.

The Teal Mask Story Guide

Kieran Name Meaning

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Rivals

The name Kieran relates to darkness and the colour black, which can be seen depicted in the character, as he sports short, black hair with a bit of purple highlights.

The two new DLC characters' red and purple hairstyles could be a reference to the titles Scarlet and Violet.

Kieran Background

Blueberry Academy Student

Pokemon SV - Kieran Carmine Blueberry
While he is gentle-natured, Kieran is an experienced trainer considering he is enrolled at Blueberry Academy, a premier school that focuses on Pokemon battling as its curriculum.

Unlike other Blueberry Academy students, he wears his Academy Hoodie in a style that drops the turtleneck collar for one with lapels instead. This style of wearing the sweater is reminiscent of the mystery trainer that appears in the August 8 Pokemon Presents Trailer.
