Pyro Ball
・ High Jump Kick ・ Sucker Punch ・ Iron Head |
Cinderace benefits from both Libero and Terastallizing being able to change its typing at will, removing weaknesses and improving offense.
Pyro Ball is Cinderace's best Fire-type move. High Jump Kick is great for damaging opponents for neutral damage and is also Cinderace's most damaging Move. Sucker Punch is great for opponents who are quicker than Cinderace, and Iron Head gives it an out against Fairy-types who resist its other moves.
Life Orb is the preferred Item for Cinderace as it benefits greatly from having offensive options.
Gunk Shot | Gunk Shot offers Cinderace an even more powerful move to use against Fairy-types at the cost of accuracy and consistency. |

Moveset | ・
Flare Blitz
・ High Jump Kick ・ Iron Head ・ U-turn |
Libero has synergy with a Stellar Tera. Good spread of high base power attacks. Limited attack types to choose from. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Libero | Choice Band |
The ability chosen for this build is Libero. This changes Cinderace's typing to be the same as the first move it uses in battle.
The item chosen for this build is a Choice Band. This will boost the damage of Cinderace's attacks, helping it get a quick KO at the cost of having to use the same move it selects when it switches into battle.
Flare Blitz | High Jump Kick |
Iron Head | U-turn |
Flare Blitz is its strongest Fire-type STAB move that hurts Cinderace for 33% of the damage it deals every time it's used.
High Jump Kick is its main offensive coverage move that has a very high base power but hurts Cinderace for 50% of its max HP when it misses.
Iron Head is its main defensive coverage move that is used to threaten Fairy-types and turn Cinderace into an amazing defensive Steel-type.
U-Turn lets Cinderace switch out into one of its allies, creating a better matchup while doing a decent amount of chip damage in the process.
Stellar Tera Type Matchup |
---|
Stellar is the best Tera Type for this build because it will boost the damage of whatever move Cinderace chooses to use.
Note that even if it's a Stellar Type, it keeps the defensive properties of whatever type it changes into via Libero.
A full 252 EVs are placed in Cinderace's Attack and Speed to make it hit as hard and fast as possible. The extra 4 EVs are put into its HP to help round out its bulk.
A Jolly nature is preferred to help Cinderace outspeed as many Pokemon as possible.
Tera Blast | Used to hit the opponent's Terastallized Pokemon with a super-effective Stellar Tera Blast. |
---|---|
Gunk Shot | Fulfills the same purpose as Iron Head, but does significantly more damage at the cost of only having 80% accuracy. |
Sucker Punch | Can get a quick and unexpected OHKO when combined with Choice Band, but Cinderace gets locked into a useless move if the opponent never attacks. |
Build Name | Recommendation |
---|---|
Physically Offensive Cinderace | ★★★★★ |
Nature | Jolly (+Spe, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 Atk / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 155 HP / 168 Atk / 95 Def / 96 Sp. Def / 188 Spe |
Ability | Libero |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Clear Amulet |
Moveset | ・
Pyro Ball
・ Iron Head ・ Sucker Punch ・ Detect |
Similar to the Singles set, Pyro Ball is Cinderace's best Fire-type move.
Iron Head gives Cinderace an option to hit Fairy-types for super-effective damage, while Sucker Punch gives Cinderace a Priority Move option to use against rare quicker Pokemon.
Detect is a small optimization that lets Cinderace protect itself in fringe Imprison + Protect situations, but just using Protect is also perfectly fine.
High Jump Kick | High Jump Kick gives Cinderace a powerful Fighting-type move that can deal massive damage on neutral hits. It is not 100% accurate though, so using it comes with some risk. |
---|---|
Tera Blast | Tera Blast is useful as a Flying-type move for this set, especially if Cinderace wants to get rid of its Ground-type weakness. |
Cinderace is best utilized when it can comfortably attack and outspeed its opponents. It typically does not like matchups where it cannot outspeed or if the opposing Pokemon can tank it. In these situations, it is best to have Speed Control of your own or switch Cinderace out.
Libero essentially gives Cinderace a free mid-game Terastallization. This has been extremely useful in Sword and Shield, and is still a great Ability to have despite it being nerfed. Having a Libero type change once and a Terastallization type change once, essentially gives Cinderace two type changes in a match. Use this to make Cinderace difficult to predict.
Cinderace is best in teams that can let it come in safely and attack. This can come in the form of disruption through status, like Breloom's Spore or Speed Control through Murkrow's Tailwind.
Teammates that can safely switch into super-effective moves are also great to have, such as Wash Rotom.
Physically Offensive Lead | Physical Sweeper | Special Attacker / Bulky Pivot |
---|---|---|
Breloom | Cinderace | Wash Rotom |
Breloom is a powerful and effective Lead choice that can sometimes win on its own. Having Cinderace on the back end of a team for late-game for cleanup can often help you win a match.
Wash Rotom is a reliable Special Attacker and pivot Pokemon that can allow you to reposition.
Physical Attacker | Support |
---|---|
Cinderace | Grimmsnarl |
Special Attacker | Support |
Wash Rotom | Murkrow |
Grimmsnarl has plenty to offer Cinderace as a partner. It can help defensively with its Dual Screens, and it can also assist with Speed Control through Thunder Wave or Scary Face.
Murkrow can also be supportive through Tailwind and Quash.
Wash Rotom is a reliable partner for Cinderace to have especially because it can hit opposing Ground and Fire-types for super-effective damage with Hydro Pump.
Cinderace, while it has good stats, is limited by its moveset being predictable. Without having access to Dynamax, its Fighting-type and Flying-type moves are not as powerful. Pokemon who can wall Cinderace or outspeed it will severely hinder its usefulness in a match.
Pokemon | Description |

Hippowdon | Ranking: ★★★★★
・Hippowdon can wall Cinderace's usual moveset. ・Hippowdon can comfortably set up in front of Cinderace, who does not threaten it offensively ▶️Hippowdon Best Movesets |
Arcanine | Ranking: ★★★★
・Arcanine can neutralize Cinderace's offensive potential with Intimidate ・Can comfortably take Cinderace's offense. ▶️Arcanine Best Movesets |
Annihilape | Ranking: ★★★★
・Can outspeed Cinderace if it is running Choice Scarf. ・Matches up favourably against Sucker Punch sets if Annihilape is running a Bulk Up set. ▶️Annihilape Best Movesets |
