Moveset | ・
Nasty Plot
・ Venoshock ・ Hex ・ Protect |
Venoshock synergizes well with Toxic Chain. Hex as coverage move also does well with Ability. High Sp. Atk makes it a formidable special attacker. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Toxic Chain | Life Orb |
You can easily rely on Munkidori's Toxic Chain Ability to badly poison your opponents, even without Toxic, by simply attacking.
You can then take advantage of your target getting a poisoned with Venoshock or Hex which will deal double damage. Letting Munkidori hold a Life Orb will power up your attacks even more.
Nasty Plot | Venoshock |
Hex | Protect |
Nasty Plot lets Munkidori build up Special Attack boosts to raise its already high stat.
Venoshock will be its main attack move, which can badly poison a target thanks to Munkidori's Toxic Chain. This will then double the move's damage output. The same strategy also applies for Hex, which is included as a coverage move against Ghost-type Pokemon.
Protect will allow Munkidori to survive turns and stall as its opponent takes residual damage from being badly poisoned.

Giving Munkidori a Poison Tera Type will help it deal more damage against badly-poisoned targets with its Poison-type attacks.
Allotting 252 EVs to Munkidori's Special Attack and Speed stats and letting it have a Modest Nature helps it become a standard speedy special attacker in Singles battles.

Fake Out can poison with Toxic Chain. Reduce opponents damage with Parting Shot. Can still do respectable damage with Psychic. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Toxic Chain | Sitrus Berry |
You can easily rely on Munkidori's Toxic Chain Ability to badly poison your opponents, even without Toxic, by simply attacking.
Having Munkidori hold a Sitrus Berry will let it heal back some HP after tanking hits for its allies.
Fake Out | Parting Shot |
Psychic | Protect |
Fake Out lets Munkidori prevent an opponent from using a move the turn Munkidori enters the field. Combine this with Parting Shot, a move that switches the user out and lowers the opponents Atk and Sp. Atk by one stage, and Munkidori becomes a nuissance for your opponents to deal with.
Psychic is a strong STAB move that Munkidori can use to pressure opposing Flutter Manes, Urshifu Rapid Strikes, and Iron Hands.
Protect is a staple move in competitve doubles as it allows you to stall out turns without taking damage.

---|---|---|

(2x) | ||
Damaged Normally By: |
(1x) | |
Resists: | (0.5x) | |
Immune to: | (0x) |
Flying is the best Tera Type for this build because it allows Munkidori to become immune to any threatening Ground-type moves.
Full 252 EVs are put into Munkidori's HP and Speed, while the remaining 4 EVs are put into Defense, so that Munkidori can best support its teammates.
A Timid Nature is preferred so that Munkidori can outspeed opposing Fake Out users, while also allowing it to use Parting Shot before opponents can take their turn.

Item: Assault Vest | Wood Hammer 86 ~ 102 (44.1 ~ 52.3%) Guaranteed 3HKO |
Game8's Competitive Damage Calculator
Toxic Chain can easily badly poison a target even if Munkidori uses normal moves. This Ability synergizes well with moves that deal more damage if the target has a status effect, like Venoshock or Hex.
This also lets Munkidori play both the role of a utility Pokemon and an attacker, removing the need of longer setups.
Lead Attacker | Special Attacker | Physical Attacker |
---|---|---|
Palafin | Munkidori | Kingambit |
Munkidori isn't a great lead Pokemon, but can be a useful switch-in for lead attackers that are weak to Grass-type moves like Palafin. It can then utilize its Ability to badly poison its opponent.
If it is threatened by Ghost and Dark-type moves, Munkidori can be replaced by Kingambit, who resists such attacks.
Fake Out / Parting Shot Support | Support / Physical Attacker |
---|---|
Munkidori | Rillaboom |
Intimidate / Physical Attacker | Physical Attacker |
Hisuian Arcanine | Urshifu Rapid-Strike Style |
Running a balance team that can switch out and cover for each others weaknesses is the ideal team for Munkidori. With Grassy Terrain healing, Intimidate, and Parting Shot, your Physical Attackers will be put in a safe spot to deal massive damage without taking as much in return.
Munkidori's low HP and Defense stat makes it vulnerable to physical Ground, Ghost, and Dark-type attacks.
