Kitakami Prologue Online Competition
The format used in the Kitakami Prologue is Doubles Format. Official Pokemon Tournaments are typically played in the Doubles Format, making learning how to build the best doubles team vital for Competitive Ranked Battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV).

For this Online Competition, the timer system will most likely be the same as the one used in Ranked Battles and the previous Paldea Prologue Online Competition.
Battle Timer: Who Wins When Time Runs Out?
The list of eligible Pokemon for this online competition will be announced at the beginning of October. However, it was mentioned that this competition will focus on Pokemon from the Kitakami Pokedex.
It is unclear if this includes Ogerpon, the Loyal Three, Bloodmoon Ursaluna, regional variants of Kitakami Pokemon, the Sinnoh starters you can obtain in Kitakami, and Pokemon from Paldea.
Kitakami Pokedex: List of All Teal Mask DLC Pokemon
Ogerpon Forms | |||
---|---|---|---|
▶️ Ogerpon (Teal Mask) Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Ogerpon (Hearthflame Mask) Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Ogerpon (Wellspring Mask) Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Ogerpon (Cornerstone Mask) Best VGC Movesets |
It is highly likely that Ogerpon will be allowed in the Kitakami Prologue. It is currently allowed in Battle Stadium season 10 (Septetmber 2023), fresh from the release of the Teal Mask DLC.
The previous Paldea Prologue competition allowed the use of Koraidon and Miraidon, so it won't be surprising to see the Legendary Pokemon of Kitakami be allowed in this online competition.
The Loyal Three (Heroes of Kitakami) | |||
---|---|---|---|
▶️ Okidogi Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Munkidori Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Fezandipiti Best VGC Movesets |
The other Legendaries introduced in the Kitakami Region, The Loyal Three, may also be eligible for the Kitakami Prologue Online Competition. These Pokemon are currently allowed to be used in Ranked Battles for the September season.
Box Legendaries | |
---|---|
▶️ Miraidon Best Movesets for Ranked Battle |
▶️ Koraidon Best Movesets for Ranked Battle |
While Miraidon and Koraidon were allowed in the previous Paldea Prologue, it is unlikely that they will be allowed to participate this time around.
The Kitakami Prologue is a competition that wants to showcase the new and returning Pokemon from the Teal Mask DLC. The Paldean Legendaries may overshadow other Pokemon in the competition if they were allowed.
Treasures of Ruin | |||
---|---|---|---|
▶️ Wo-Chien Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Chien-Pao Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Ting-Lu Best VGC Movesets |
▶️ Chi-Yu Best VGC Movesets |
The Treasures of Ruin are currently allowed in both Regulation D and Regulation E for Ranked Battles. However, since they are not part of the Kitakami Pokedex, it's possible that they may not be allowed in the Kitakami Prologue Online Competition.
New Paradox Pokemon | |
---|---|
▶️ Iron Leaves Best Movesets for Ranked Battle |
▶️ Walking Wake Best Movesets for Ranked Battle |
The Paradox Pokemon Walking Wake and Iron Leaves, which were obtainable in a special Tera Raid Event, are most likely not allowed to be used in this competition.
These two Pokemon are not allowed in both the Regulation D and Regulation E rulesets.
It is safe to assume that Legendary Pokemon outside of those in Kitakami, as well as Mythical Pokemon are not allowed in this official competition.
Only one user per game version (Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet) may participate per each Nintendo Switch system. If your Nintendo Account is registered to users on multiple Nintendo Switch systems, you may participate with only one user and system per game version.
Any Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account required for online features are required to participate. Not available in all countries. Internet access required for online features.
Like most other online competitions, participants are eligible for a participation gift. You must finish at least one match with a win or loss during the event period to be eligible for rewards.
The rewards, along with the list of Pokemon eligible for the competition, will be announced on October 1.
