Just like in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can transfer Pokemon HOME Points into older games as currency to buy items.
Due to changes in the currency system in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can now buy rare battle items using both Poke Dollars and League Points.
This wasn't the case in the older games, as some items were only farmable by buying them using special currency you can only obtain by using battle facilities.
