You can not change your gender and name in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). But read on to find out what options you have in-game!

Your Gender and Name Are Unchangeable

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Florian and Juliana

You cannot change your name or gender once you start a new game in either Pokemon Scarlet or Violet.

Gender locks are removed on outfits and hairstyles, so you can still change your appearance to appear more feminine or masculine. But you will still be referred to as he/him if you chose male, and she/her if you chose female.

There will also be points where other characters will use gendered language to refer to you based on what you first picked.

The only reliable way to change your name or gender in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is to start a new game. Starting a new game will allow you to pick a new name for your character, as well as a new gender.

Change Your Appearance

Changing your Appearance - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

If you're too far down a game and don't want to start a new one, you can get closer to the gender you want by changing your appearance with hairstyles and outfits. But you will still be referred to with pronouns of the gender you first selected.
