How to Get to the Dark Team Star Base

Best Path to Get to Giacomo's Base

①: Exit the West Gates of Mesagoza City.
②: Head along the path to Cortondo Town.
③: Keep going through to the Pokemon center in the middle of West Province (Area One).
④: Head North and cross the bridge, then go to the Pokemon Center in the North or West Province (Area One).
⑤: Keep following that path and you will soon arrive at the Dark Team Star Base.

You can reach the Dark Team Star Base either by foot or with Miraidon/Koraidon's base ride abilities. There are no other story elements or ride abilities that need to be unlocked first.

Best Team to Beat Giacomo

Fighting Types are the Best Counter

Pokemon Best Moves Explanation
Lucario ImageLucario 【Best Moves】
Vacuum Wave
Aura Sphere
Hits both Varoom and Pawniard for weakness with the one move. In Pawniards case it is a 4x Weakness, resulting in massive damage. Riolu can be caught early on, and increase friendship through Picnics to evolve into Lucario!
Pawmo ImagePawmo 【Best Moves】
Arm Thrust
Evolves from Pawmi. Hits both Varoom and Pawniard for weakness with the one move, however Arm Thrust does not have a large Base Power, so you do not need to go out of your way to obtain this Pokemon. If you already have one on your team it may be useful however.
Sylveon ImageSylveon 【Best Moves】
Disarming Voice
Hits both Varoom and Pawniard for weakness with the one move. Special Attack moves won't suffer much from the Starmobile's Intimidate. You can evolve Eeevee into Sylveon at Level 15 when it learns Baby-Doll Eyes. High Friendship can be easily achieved through picnics!

When battling Giacomo you should use Fighting Type Pokemon to exploit his Teams shared weakness. The above Pokemon can be found early on in your journey and will prove invaluable at the Dark Team Star Base. Sylveon can also be used, since it won't suffer from Intimidate. Just watch out for Pawniard and the Starmobile's Steel type moves!

How to Beat Segin Starmobile

Ability Effect
Intimidate The user lower's the opponent's Attack by one stage whenever it enters the battlefield.

Giacomo's Starmobile has the ability Intimidate, so be careful in using Pokemon that use Physical attacks since it can drag the battle for longer if your Attack gets lowered. Opt instead for Special Attackers to end the battle quickly.

Best Strategy to Beat Giacomo

Exploit Pawniard's Weakness for Swift Victory

By using Types that Pawniard are weak to such as Fighting or Fire you should make quick work of it. If you chose Fuecoco as your starter Pokemon it should do the job fine.

If you do not have a Pokemon that can deal super effective damage, take advantage of Pawniards lower Special Defense with Special Moves to deal more damage.

Save Your Tera Orb for the Starmobile Battle

Dark Starmobile Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Each Team Star Boss has their own Revavroom Starmobile. Just like the Titan Pokemon in Path of Legends, Team Star's Starmobiles have much more HP than regular Pokemon, so you will have to utilize your full team to take them down. You should save your Tera Orb for these battles.

Equip a Clear Amulet to Prevent Status Reductions

Clear Amulet Effect Talk to this Person

Giacomo's Starmobile has a deadly one-two combination in Metal Sound, lowering your Defense by 2 stages followed by Bark Out, a Special Move.

If you get yourself the Clear Amulet Item from the Pokemon League Representative pictured above at the Pokemon Center in West Province (Area One) and give it to your Pokemon to hold, you can prevent all stat reductions, so it is invaluable in this battle.

Note that you need to defeat five trainers in the area to obtain the Clear Amulet from the representative at the Pokemon Center.

Team Star Rematch Battles: All STC Rematch Teams Guide

Strategy and Tips to Beat Giacomo's Rematch Team

One Shot Kingambit with Fighting Type Moves

Gallade and Kingambit Pokemon SV
Take out Kingambit in one shot by exploiting its 4x weakness to Fighting. It is crucial that you use a Pokemon like Gallade with a high speed stat, as Kingambit's Supreme Overlord Ability raises its Attack by one stage for each Pokemon that was defeated before it. This leaves Kingambit in a very strong position starting the battle, so make sure you deal with it swiftly.

Bring Fairy Types

Fairy Types resist Giacomo's Pokemon's Dark Type attacks while dealing STAB boosted super effective damage, so they are a no brainer in this matchup.

Watch Out For Honchcrow

Usually Fighting Types are one of the best counters to Dark Type Pokemon, however Honchcrow is a serious threat with its STAB super effective Flying Typing. Make sure you use your Fairy Type Pokemon such as Tinkaton for this matchup.
