Amazing Bulk ang great movepool makes it an amazing defensive utility option. Energy Ball lets it attack and shred Sp. Def Can increase allies' damage thanks to Helping Hand |
The best ability for Meganium in Tera Raid Battles is Leaf Guard. This allows Meganium to not worry about Status Effects while under harsh sunlight.
We also recommend getting a Meganium with a Fairy or Steel Tera Type while it doesn't matter what Tera Type your Meganium is as it will be mostly a support, getting Steel or Fairy are amazing types defensively. As a Defensive Wall, a Calm nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize
This build aims to make Meganium as tanky as possible against special attacks. Max out your Def and Special Defense EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into HP. Give it Light Clay to extend the duration of your screens.
Meganium Tera Raid Situational Strategies | |
---|---|
Buffer | Help out your allies with Helping Hand so they can dish out more damage! |
Screen Setter | Help the team's overall bulk by setting up a priority Light Screen. |
Debuffer | Attack with Energy Ball for a chance to shred the Raid Boss' HP. |
Healer | Use Heal Pulse to heal allies who are low on HP. You can also use Safeguard to prevent any status conditions on allies. |
This build is specifically tailored for random Tera Raid matchups online. Use both Light Screen and Reflect at the start of the battle to make your team less susceptible to damage.
This build focuses on using Heal Pulse to heal up any ally if their HP is running low. You also have the option of running Safeguard for those raid bosses that like to spam status conditions, or Helping Hand to support your allies to do more damage.
Meganium is a Pokemon whose entire kit revolves around supporting ally Pokemon. Here's some moves we could recommend that could help in certain types of raids.
Move | Case |
---|---|
Sunny Day | Reduce damage form Water type attacks and support other Grass type attackers on the field |
Fake Tears | More potent at lowering the Raid Boss' Sp. Def but cannot be used when shields are up. |
Charm | Lower the attack of the Raid Boss. Can work in place of Reflect but cannot be used once shields are up. |
Grassy Terrain | Lessen Earthquake damage and support other Grass type attackers on the field. |
Mud-Slap | Use this to let everyone score some free hits on the Raid Boss by making it miss its attacks. |

Not Very Effective (x0.5) | |

This Meganium Tera Raid Build is an effective support against Water, Ground and Rock Type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss has a different Tera Type which Meganium is weak against, consider using a different build.

Use Reflect / Light Screen to reduce the Raid Boss' attacks. Boost Meganium's Attack with Swords Dance. Use Petal Blizzard to deal damage to the Raid Boss. |
Meganium's attack can be further boosted with Swords Dance, maximizing the damage of Meganium's Petal Blizzard
Place a Grassy Terrain to boost its Attack by an additional 30% while also healing HP to increase survivability.
This build recommends Meganium to have a Grass Tera Type to maximize the damage dealt by Petal Blizzard from a double STAB.
As a Physical Attacker, an Adamant nature is the recommended nature. If Meganium happens to have a different nature, you can use an Adamant Mint to change its nature.
Let Meganium hold a Shell Bell to restore health when it deals damage, increasing its survivability against raid bosses.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards bulky offense to increase survivability while dealing the maximum damage possible. EV Train to max out Meganium's Attack and HP, while adding the remaining EVs into Defense.
Meganium Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1 (Optional) | Use Reflect / Lightscreen to decrease the damage dealt to you. |
Turns 2~4 | Use Swords Dance to increase Meganium's Attack. |
Turn 5 | Use Grassy Terrain to make use of its effect of increasing the attack of Grass-type moves. |
Turns 6~8 | Use Petal Blizzard to build Tera Orb charge, terastallizing when possible |
Turns 9+ | Terastallize and keep using Petal Blizzard until you beat the raid boss. Feel free to set up any buffs or debuffs you may have lost. |
Start the raid battle with Swords Dance and use it three times to boost Meganium's Attack stat. You can place a Reflect or Lightscreen to decrease the damage dealt to you by the raid boss by 50%.
Place a Grassy Terrain to increase Meganium's damage potential.
After setting everything up, use Petal Blizzard to deal damage and build its Tera Orb Charge. Terastallize to double the STAB for Petal Blizzard and continue using it until the Raid Boss is defeated.

Not Very Effective (x0.5) | |
No Effect (x0) |

This Meganium Grass Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to Water, Ground, and Rock Type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss is usually a Fire, Flying or Bug Type outside of Terastallization, perhaps consider a different build, as Meganium will be weak to these types as a Grass-type attacker.
