Moveset | ・
Close Combat
・ Raging Fury ・ U-turn ・ Stone Edge |
Strong and fast Physical Attacker that can get quick KOs. Can run Physical or Special sets, making it hard to counter in team preview. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Blaze | Choice Band |
The Ability chosen for Infernape for this build is Blaze. This moveset doesn't make use of its Hidden Ability Iron Fist, so the only option is to take Blaze which helps boost the damage of its Fire-type attacks at low HP.
The item chosen for Infernape for this build is Choice Band. This helps Infernape get quick knockouts by increasing the damage of its Physical attacks.
Close Combat | Raging Fury |
U-turn | Stone Edge |
Close Combat and Raging Fury are its strongest STAB attacks. The only downside to these moves is that Close Combat will lower its defensive stats by one stage, and Raging Fury will confuse the user after using it for two or three turns.
U-Turn allows for Infernape to pivot out of bad matchups.
Stone Edge is the coverage option used for this build to allow Infernape to threaten Flying-types that threaten it.
Water Tera Type Matchup | ||
---|---|---|
Weak to: | ||
(2x) | ||
Damaged Normally By: |
(1x) | |
Resists: | (0.5x) | |
Water is the best Tera Type for this build because it removes Infernape's weaknesses and makes it resistant to Water-type attacks.
Best Water Type Pokemon
A full 252 EVs are put in its Attack and Speed stats to make it hit as hard and fast as possible. The extra 4 EVs are put into its HP to help round out its bulk.
A Jolly nature is preferred to help increase its Speed stat as much as possible.
Earthquake | A generally good coverage move since it has a high base power and it's fully accurate. |
---|---|
Poison Jab
or Gunk Shot |
Strong Poison coverage moves to help deal with Fairy and Grass types. Poison Jab is weaker but it's 100% accurate, while Gunk Shot is stronger but it's only 80% accurate. |

Item: Hearthflame Mask | Stone Edge 170-202 (109.6 - 130.3%) Guaranteed OHKO |

Moveset | ・
Fire Blast
・ Aura Sphere ・ Grass Knot ・ Nasty Plot |
Strong and fast Special Attacker that can get quick KOs. Can run Physical or Special sets, making it hard to counter in team preview. Nasy Plot helps punish and break walls. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Blaze | Life Orb |
The Ability chosen for Infernape for this build is Blaze. This moveset doesn't make use of its Hidden Ability Iron Fist, so the only option is to take Blaze which helps boost the damage of its Fire-type attacks at low HP.
The item chosen for Infernape for this build is Life Orb. This helps Infernape get quick knockouts by increasing the damage of its attacks without having to lock into a single move.
Fire Blast | Aura Sphere |
Grass Knot | Nasty Plot |
Fire Blast is its strongest Fire-type STAB move. This is used instead of Overheat because it is not ideal to have Infernape's Special Attack lowered by two stages whenever it attacks.
Aura Sphere is a new move that Infernape learns this generation, and it is now its best Fighting-type STAB option for this build.
Grass Knot allows for Infernape to threaten Water and Ground-types that it normally wouldn't be able to deal with.
Nasty Plot increases Infernape's Special Attack stat by two stages helping it beat Pokemon that would have a difficult time knocking out.

A Timid nature is preferred to help increase its Speed stat as much as possible.
Flamethrower | A weaker Fire-type attack, but it is 100% accurate. |
---|---|
Tera Blast | Allows for more coverage options whenever Infernape Terasallizes. Consider changing Infernape's Tera Type to something more offensive like Grass or Ice. |
One of Infernape's greatest strengths is that it can run a Physical, Special, or even a Mixed attacking set. Try not to reveal your moveset too early to keep your opponent guessing which Pokemon they should bring.
Infernape is best used on a hyper-offense team that can get quick trades so that you will always have a Pokemon advantage.
Special Attacker | Mixed Attacker | Physical Attacker |
---|---|---|
Flutter Mane | Infernape | Ogerpon (Wellspring Mask) |
This trio applies an extreme amount of offensive pressure, with not a single Pokemon being able to resist the combination of all three of their STABs.
Make sure to identify and keep the key Pokemon against the opposing team alive. If they knock that Pokemon out, it will be difficult to get the win with how frail this team is.
Pokemon | Description |

Flutter Mane | Ranking: ★★★★★
・Choice Specs set will always OHKO with Moonblast. ・+1 Calm Mind would also OHKO with Moonblast. ▶️ Flutter Mane Best Movesets |
